I'm not making any commentary on individual people, but that church as an organization is full of plagues......most of the people don't know that they are being led and taught in many cases by occultists, pedophiles and homosexuals, as well as priests who prey on the nuns who are essentially held prisoner in cloistered convents....all these things take place under the cover of darkness.  Catholic people may be kind, they may be generous, they may be friendly....so are new agers and buddhists....and Satan himself transforms into an angel of light.....but they are for the most part being led down a garden path that parallels the gospel and eternal life but without ever finding it.  And even then how many of those kind people drink like fish on the weekends, go pubbing and partying, engage in fornication before marriage, do their fund raising with gambling casinos and bingos,  and hold dances with cash bars.....and are no different from the world in other ways.  Also, there is some value for this life in having a mental belief in Christ and receive some instruction in righteousness...it can help individuals to live better in some ways, at least outwardly.....but this life is awfully short, and to have eternal life we need to be born again of the Holy Spirit.  All our righteousness is as filthy rags to God....so we need the righteousness of Christ.  I know the difference because I once was Catholic before being born again.  It can be so deceptive to judge by the outward appearance of things.

Regarding "putting out fleeces".......under the new covenant we walk by faith, not by fleeces (sight).....however the Lord Himself says to let everything be established on the strength of two or three witnesses....so if you need confirmation for something you believe the Lord is showing or speaking to you, then seek that second witness and He will give it to you.  The third witness is the Holy Spirit, already present with the first and second witnesses.

Brother, the bible tells us what happens to souls who don't know the Lord and reject the gospel.....they face the judgment and lake of fire.

I know how hard our lives are to explain. It would be easier if I was just in the Twilight Zone, but that's fantasy.

After reading the OT almost exclusively for a year I decided to try to read some of the early church fathers. This is before Catholicism wasn't considered Christianity. I started with Augustus of Hippo and now I'm reading about Origen of Alexandria. Some of those early guys sound almost more confused than we do. Ever since I was 5 it occurred to me that I may have been someplace other than Earth before I came to Earth. Have you ever met someone you could swear you knew before but you didn't. This happened to me in 1986 or so. Well Origen as well as some of the other great men of God also considered we are some place before here. My life is so crazy that perhaps I volunteered for this, as the alternative would have been worse. That's 1 idea Rod Sterling missed. I don't know, I'm just sharing my thoughts.

I also know this, I'm super eager to see heaven, Jesus, the angels, and all the things we're waiting for.?

Spoilers ahead!

Twilight Zone: My Favorites - 1

A uniformed U.S. Army major wakes up to find himself trapped inside in a large metal cylinder, where he meets a hobo, a ballet dancer, a bagpiper, and a clown who, ironically, seems to be the one among them all who reasons the most. All of them have different theories regarding their presence here, although they admit none of these is to be taken for granted. They also have no memory of who they are, or how they became trapped, and they don't seem to have any need for food or water. The major, being the newest arrival, is the most determined to escape. He is told there is no way of either breaking through or climbing up the cylinder.

Eventually, the major suggests a plan to escape: forming a tower of people, each person on the other's shoulders. However, the dancer at the top of the tower is still a few inches short of the cylinder's top, and a loud clanging sound shakes the cylinder and sends the five tumbling to the ground. Now even more determined, the major fashions a grappling hook out of loose bits of clothing and his sword. By reforming the tower, he manages to grapple onto the edge of the cylinder. As he turns to survey the area surrounding the cylinder, he tumbles to the ground outside.

The scene cuts to a little girl picking up a doll from the snow, in the dress of an army major. The cylinder is a Christmas toy collection barrel for a girls' orphanage, and all five characters are nothing more than dolls. The loud clanging was the ringing of a bell, used by a woman to attract donations; she tells the girl to return the doll to the barrel.

The final shot is of the five characters, now seen as dolls with painted faces and glass eyes. The ballet dancer moves to hold the hand of the major as her eyes fill with tears.

Twilight Zone: My Favorites - 2

Six-year-old Anthony Fremont has godlike mental powers, including mind-reading. He has isolated his town of Peaksville, Ohio from the rest of the universe. The people must thus grow their own food, and supplies of common household items, such as bar soap, have been dwindling. He has blocked television signals and caused cars not to work. Everybody is under his rule, even his parents. The people live in fear of him, constantly telling him how everything he does is "good," since he banishes anyone thinking unhappy thoughts into the otherworldly "cornfield" from which there is no return. Never having experienced any form of discipline, Anthony does not even understand that his actions are wrong, and is confused when his father tells him that the neighbors are reluctant to let their children play with him after he sent several of his playmates to the cornfield.

One night each week, Anthony gives the townsfolk one hour of television, which he creates and projects onto the family TV set. The adults gather around in the Fremonts' living room, squirming uncomfortably as Anthony shows them a vision of screaming dinosaurs, engaged in a gory battle. Unable to voice their real feelings, they tell Anthony that it was far better than what used to be on TV.

After the program is over, the adults celebrate Dan Hollis' birthday. He gets two presents from his wife: a bottle of brandy – which is one of only five left in the village – and a Perry Como record. Dan is eager to listen to the record, but he's reminded by everyone that Anthony does not like singing and he must listen to it at home. Getting drunk from the brandy, he starts complaining about the miserable state of the town, not listening to the record, and no one singing "Happy Birthday" to him. Anthony at first ignores him after telling him to be quiet. Dan eventually snaps with repressed rage surfacing and confronts the child, calling him a monster and a murderer. While Anthony's anger grows, Dan yells for someone to attack Anthony from behind and end his reign of terror. Aunt Amy (who isn't able to sing anymore because of Anthony) tentatively reaches for a fireplace poker, but no one has the courage to act. Anthony transforms Dan into a jack-in-the-box, causing his wife to break down. The adults are horrified at what Anthony had done, and his father asks him to wish it into the cornfield, which he does.

Anthony causes snow to begin falling outside. The snow will kill off at least half the crops and the town will face starvation. Anthony's father starts to rebuke Anthony about this, but his wife and the other adults look on with worried smiles on their faces. The father then smiles and tells Anthony in a terrified voice, "...But it's good you're making it snow. A real good thing. And tomorrow... tomorrow's gonna be a... real good day!"

Twilight Zone: My Favorites - 3

An impoverished, aging woman (Agnes Moorehead) lives alone in a rustic cabin. She is dressed shabbily, and there are no modern conveniences in evidence. After hearing a strange noise above her kitchen roof, she is accosted by small intruders that come from a miniature flying saucer that has landed on her rooftop. Two tiny figures, apparently about six inches high, which may be robots or beings wearing pressure suits, emerge from the craft.

The small figures attack the woman, using small, pistol-like weapons that leave radiation burns on her skin, and, after following her into her cabin, slashing her ankle and hand with her own kitchen knife. The suspense builds as the woman searches for the invaders. She eventually destroys one, wrapping it in a blanket and beating it until it is still, then throwing it into the burning fireplace. She follows the other to the saucer-ship on her roof, which she proceeds to attack with a hatchet.

All this has taken place with no words being spoken, but now a voice (director Douglas Heyes) is heard speaking in English from within the craft. The intruder frantically warns other potential visitors that the planet is inhabited by giants and impossible to defeat. The camera pans to the markings on the side of the ship, which read U.S. Air Force Space Probe No. 1. The invaders were not tiny, but were human astronauts from Earth; the woman in the small farmhouse belongs to a race of giant humanoids native to another planet. She finishes destroying the ship and then climbs back down from the roof into the house, exhausted.

Outer Limits - 1

Trent (Robert Culp) is a man with no memory of his life before the previous ten days. His left hand has been replaced by an advanced computer shaped like his missing hand and protected by some transparent material. Three fingers are missing; the computer tells him they must be reattached before it can tell Trent what is going on. Trent is being hunted by a handful of humanoid aliens called the Kyben; they have the missing appendages. The action takes place in a large rundown office building which the Kyben have sealed off from the world. In this deadly game of hide-and-seek, Trent enlists the help of Consuelo Biros (Arlene Martel), a woman who works in the building.

For reasons unknown to him, Trent was sent into the past via a "time mirror", located in the building. A captured Kyben tells Trent that both of them are from a thousand years in the future. In that future, Earth has been conquered by the Kyben, but all the surviving humans except Trent have mysteriously vanished. The aliens are being obliterated by a "radioactive plague" that is killing all intelligent life on the planet, apparently unleashed by the humans in a last-ditch effort to repel the invasion. In a desperate attempt to find a cure for the plague and to extract whatever knowledge is stored in the hand/computer, the Kyben have followed him back in time with the missing fingers.

Eventually, Trent defeats all of his Kyben hunters by ripping off the medallion-shaped devices they wear to anchor them in the past. Trent successfully destroys the mirror and recovers the missing fingers, one by one. When the computer is whole, he learns the terrible truth: he is not a man, but a robot. The human survivors have been digitally encoded onto a gold-copper alloy wire wrapped around the solenoid in his thorax. Immune to disease, he must protect his precious cargo for 200 years after the Kyben invasion, by which time the plague will have dissipated. Then he will resurrect the human race.

Trent had thought he was a man, as he and Consuelo had begun to develop feelings for each other. With the truth revealed, she leaves him, pity mixed with horror in her eyes. Trent is left to face 1,200 years of lonely vigil.

Play nice people.

Heleadethme, Adstar, et al, I guess you guys don't believe me. What do you think I'm lying about my past? I know what goes on in some CC's, such things also happen in Born Again churches.

30+ yrs ago I was in a church with elders instead of a pastor. And almost everyone claimed to be a prophet. One of the head elders took a new member into a private room and tried to teach him to speak in tongues. He never came back. I sounded like you guys but I was a baby Christian. I thought real Christians do what the Bible says. I was so naive. Because of all the stuff going on behind another person's back I left that church and never found another one. Looking back 40 yrs, they weren't that bad. They didn't deal drugs, beat people up or worse. But they weren't even trying to obey the Lord. They liked to play church on Sunday and they were good at it. What I'm objecting to is you guys telling me things about the CC as if I'm a newbie.

Ok this is happening way too often tonight for me..

Please JTC can you do me the courtesy if quoting where i accused you of lying in this thread...

Also please quote where i have been nasty towards you or have launched a personal attack against you...

I will quote the only post i have posted in this thread before this post so that others can look and see if they can find where i have accused JTC of lying or have engaged in a personal attack upon JTC  ... Please someone if i have done either of these things then point it out to me:

Adstar don't get so defensive. (I also lumped you and  Heleadethme together) No one accused me of lying and I'm not accusing you. I said that I may go try a CC for awhile because 1. that's all there is near me, 2. I was raised Catholic. I'm very open and honest. Unless one of you is new here, you guys should know that I know, what I will find inside a CC. I've been there before. Isn't it you who also left the CC? If so, you also know what's in there. I'm 66 guys, I know there's been more dirt on the CC than in a dumpster. From what you 2 said I got the feeling you folks don't believe I'm 66, that I was raised Catholic, or that I know the Bible very well. I didn't need the 2 lectures. I'll admit I get angry at how much hatred some people have towards Catholics and then they think they are obeying Jesus.

You said this: " This is not surprising.. If one is in a religion that believes that ones eternal destination is based on their performance at being a good person and living up to the level of righteousness of Jesus then you can be sure they will do their absolute best to be as good as they can be..  But if a person believes their salvation is secured by their personal performance in being good enough and doing good works then they are in big big trouble... " Alright Adstar I'll give you that point, but let me reword it a bit.

If one is in a religion that believes that ones eternal destination is based on them saying a bunch of words, words they don't live by, and since those words include the name Jesus, soon they believe in OSAS, they ignore all the words where Jesus and His apostles say that what we do will effect our eternal destiny, they talk the talk but they don't walk the walk. You can now bet your last dollar these people are going to hell. I realize I just sent almost 80% of all believers to hell. Let's take a deep breath, maybe we don't understand the Lord.  Btw, have you read any of the apocrypha books, the ones Martin Luther took out of the Bible? I have and it's easy to see why our greedy money loving society wants them out. In the apocrypha books the writers claim that giving money to the needy (not the CC) will cover over some of your sins. This is why Catholics are so generous and helpful while protestants will barely give their own church money. Either James or Jesus did say helping the needy will be remembered by God at the judgement. Jesus said love will cover over a multitude of sins but protestants can't even love each other, never mind a bunch of half naked tribal people.

Guys, we who call ourselves by the name of Christ have big problems.

The churches in the west are in a mess.....and I agree that the plagues God gave to the RCC are also being given to the apostate evangelical churches now, so much so that many protestant churches are finding themselves no longer disagreeing any longer with the RCC.  I also began to have my eyes opened to the problems of the evangelical type churches where I live.  All I know is that God has been calling a remnant out of these places to leave the mess behind and seek Him in the wilderness.....because these are the last days and we're in the falling away.  We all have a lot of work to do in sorting ourselves out with the Lord so that we will be ready for when He wants to gather us, that we don't just go back to "Egypt" and build the same thing we left behind because we're craving it's leeks & onions.  We need to go on to perfection...purging and cleansing our hearts and lives of anything that is not of God.....die to ourselves.....perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord.  I just want to give you the same advice I give myself.....be led by the Lord in whatever you do or don't do.....wait for Him to go before you in anything you do, because these are perilous days.

I don't know what you know or don't know brother, so I was just trying to give some all-round advice, the best I can, based on things the Lord was gracious to open my eyes to.  No offense intended.

Canada woman, first you need a name easy to type. 2nd, I need your age or at least the decade of life you're in. You're probably under 40 and you don't realize how often this has been done, how much time and money has been wasted, all the lives ruined, you're too young. The devil is getting a good laugh. This is the best reason for a central head of the church. I've known of God and Jesus since 1957. In about 1977 I heard the rapture lie. I'm also a man with training on us humans. From 12 to 30 we're most insecure. Unless you had great parents you don't know what you'll do. Satan convinces you Jesus will be back any day so it doesn't matter what you do. I doubt it. Ever hear "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me". Tell me, have you been given a date or an approximate date? In the 70's my church was told 1984. Like the book, huh? They wanted us to sell our homes and give the church the money. Yeah right.

Are you friends with Audrey Boyd on FB, you might as well be.

Satan fooled me several times but now I know God. I've seen the word of wisdom function in my life. Never for me always for others.

It's still too warm where I am. C ya.

Hi JTC,

There is a difference ( Between Roman Catholicism and what they object to in the reformers) that is quite important. The important difference is found in two words;  Imputation, as compared to  or versus, Impartation. A short discussion is available at https://www.desiringgod.org/interviews/where-the-gospel-of-roman-catholicism-fails

I share of it for your consideration.

JTC, since you are lonely and can't find a church nearby, except for those few Catholic churches....if you find one where the priest gives a good sermon and is not going to try to convert you back, then you might go to listen to the sermons.  That is, as long as the sermons are Biblical.

What are the Catholic Churches like back East now?    Are they accepting of us Christians that are not Catholic?  Do the priests give sermons based on the Scripture?

I grew up in the North East and back then the Catholic Church thought anyone not a Catholic wasn't going to Heaven.   Catholics in Los Angeles are not so rigid, and do accept other non-Catholic Christians.  I've heard a few priests here during my lifetime that actually preach the Scriptures.

I was not raised Catholic but my dad was and became an atheist for many years due to what he saw in the Catholic Church (he was an altar boy).  Also, my dad's side of the family considered themselves Catholic but lived worldly lives (gambling, drinking).   After my dad died in 1975, my mother and I never heard from his side of the family again...my dad was always giving them gifts, etc.   Only my aunt would phone and she died some years ago.

I phone one of my cousins once in a blue moon but never get any calls back from them.   One of my cousins came to Los Angeles for a convention and it was like pulling teeth to get him to meet up with my mother and I.   My cousins were all sent to Catholic schools.  Maybe if the sermons were not in Latin back then, maybe it would have made a difference in them?  I don't know.   Anyhow, just sharing a bit about my life...we all go through things sometimes but it's best not to dwell on things.
