Jeremiah 24:2  One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

Say what? The Lord showed Jeremiah two baskets of figs set before the temple, and used them metaphorically to explain what His plans were for two different sorts of people. It's a great little OT passage, but very naughty figs...? I expect it was normal vocabulary for the KJV translators, but hilarious nowdays.

Who's got another one...

Oh Yes...absolutely! Here's another KJV gem:

Proverbs 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

How about this. I'm telling you, your body is vile!

Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Grreatt...Thanks-a-lot.

I've just remembered this verse. Just how loud are these noisome and grevious sores going to be?

Revelation 16:2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

Noisome does not mean loud..  Noisome means having an extremely offensive smell...

So this grievous sore  ( note each person will receive one sore ) will emit a terrible smell.. So people will receive the Mark of the Beast in their Foreheads or in their Hands, so each person will receive one mark.. And each person will end up having one noisome and grievous sore.. Now that leads me to the conclusion that the sore will appear where the mark of the beast has been inserted ,, either in a persons forehead or in their hand..  So maybe the Mark of the beast will contain a very toxic substance if it is released into the surrounding flesh.. Maybe the Mark will be powered by some toxic battery.. So when the mark breaks and releases the toxic substance into the flesh around it the result will be a very smelly and grievous sore..

Thanks for your reply, Adstar, I'm having a dig at language in this thread. Funny how some colours can be loud without actually making a sound. The thought is indeed that senses will be impacted.  It is also interesting that among other things there is a conotation of guilt in the Greek kakos translated noisome. Thanks again.

Charity (Gr. agape) doesn't vaunt itself. We don't find the word "vaunt" in use nowdays, but I like the association with "vanity" that underlies it.

1Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Now is as good a time as any to post this beautifully constructed and wonderfully inspired verse:

Revelation 18:2
(2)  And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

All that sinful humanity esteems desireable and boasts of is to become devoid of worth, like a derelict, haunted, ruin. Those birds...they are bad news, not forgetting the company they are in.
