We are to worship in truth and spirit. It has now been 70 years since Israel became a nation. More than a generation. No rapture, and the lawless one has not appeared. Daniel is an apocalyptic letter to the Jews in 162 BC. The little horn is Antiochus Epiphanes IV, and the anointed one that does not possess the land is the high priest Elias the III.

Revelation is a letter written in two parts; the time of Caesar Neron(666) which is the first twelve chapters.  A 7 headed 7 diadem kingdom (Rome a city of  seven hills and seven provinces). Domitian is the mortally wounded recovered, a reincarnate evil of Nero. Both persecuted Christians. In Domitian's time, Rome is now the city of seven hills and ten diadems. Two of Romes provinces divided in two and they acquired another to make ten. The letters to the churches was added to the beginning.

Jesus said he would come on the last day and bundle the wicked first, and then gather his followers.     And then the world be burnt, on that last day.  To quote Daniel or Revelation about the future is to deny the words of our Lord.  Charles Nelson Darby the 3rd is totally erroneous in his teaching.

Hi Babbler. I'm not really following your reasoning on this thread, and was hoping others would fill in the holes of my understanding prior to actually jumping in without knowing if man's recognition of a national event equated to true prophesy.

You mention a generation since Jewish inhabitants returned to the land where their second temple was destroyed. I may be wrong here, but isn't there more to be had before they can say they really can say they're a nation?

I personally see their absolute destination to be a nation in the future when God turns back to dealing with them as a nation after the tribulation.

Rom 11:8  (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

Isa 66:8  Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once?

Are we talking about two different things hers?  Thanks.

That is some pretty wild speculation.  No facts, just speculation.

Fact Rome has seven hills, Rome had seven provinces, and then had 10 provinces.

Fact Nero and Domitian persecuted Christians.

Fact Jesus said he would come on the last day.

Fact Charles Nelson Darby taught the tribulation period, 666. and rapture, And that within a generation all would happen. The Moody Bible Institute makes those attending to swear allegiance to his teaching.

Fact look at the responses. People ignore what Jesus said.

Fact Israel, has land, sea, and air nuclear weapons. Israel is a nation.

Deny the words of the Messiah all you want, but your denial does not change one word he said.

I don’t know your background concerning the tribulation, and the coming millennium, but please allow me to suggest that when the Son of Man (Jesus) coming with great power and great glory will be in the time referred to as the Day of the Lord. The book of Matthew, chapter twenty-four is a real outline of the tribulation that will accompany that event.

Mat 24:30  And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Now those present, and/or alive to observe all this, and that including seeing Jesus have taken that royal kingship, will also be privileged to see prophesy fulfilled

Mat 24:34  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled (and only then).  Who really knows the time frame of all this? I take it that you believe that any present when Israel repossessed Cannaan so to speak would be here when Jesus comes. I’ll quit here lest I drag this into something you’re not caring to hear.   :)

I understand your points, but BOTH Daniel and Revelation specifically say they tell us the future, and both reference times when mankind is judged into Heaven and Hell.

How do you know that God didn't give Israel 120 years, as in the days of Noah, or even 400 years, as in the time between Abraham being told there would be judgment in Canaan and the actual judgment?

Rome has seven hills so does Jerusalem. And?

To understand end times prophecy, you have to go through about 1/3 of the Bible. Unless you have a Bible quote that God would return within 70 years of the restoration of Israel . . .

Hi Babbler,

Although there is some truth in what you say, there is also the western mind saying it. Biblical prophecy is pattern. We tend to pick a point of view and argue from that point. Preterists, futurists, historisists, poemisists and any other ists all get some things right and to understand all of it isn't so much putting it all together but simply reading prophecy as pattern and all these points of view make sense in a correct way.

The difficulty is taking off the theological eye glass we've been trained to look through.

Noticing patterns from types and shadows, repetitions of scripture and like sayings and thought, geography etc. is a good thing.

We in the west think in a linear way, it isn't wrong, it's just not complete, and it's why we argue one point over another.

Kind of like a southerner in America who lives as though the civil war is not just yesterday. It's ongoing. The Hebraic mind and those who live in the middle east think and write like this. We are the ones with a Hellenistic mind set. That was the problem in Colossians, Hellenistic influence which led to a gnostic idea of Jesus Christ. They couldn't grasp the Word becoming Flesh, God becoming flesh, so they would think in terms of Jesus leaving no footprints because He could not be real flesh. If Jesus was not God the letter to the Colossians would not have even been written as it was. But anyway we need to go back to the Apostles teaching in prayer and ask the Lord to help us see.

The amount of false doctrine, false teachers, false prophets in our day, Jerusalem in the hands of the Jews, more Jews coming to Christ in the last 40 years than in the last 1800, Hebrew being resurrected as a language of a people, Persia( Iran ) apposing the Jews as never before over the last 2500 years of history and more believers in Christ being persecuted and killed for their faith over the last one hundred years than all of church history are just some of the things making this time a bit different than all of church history.

The whole generation thing in terms of specific years seems to be a constant repeat of error.

The age of the Gentiles 'is' coming to a close.

Nobody got it right considering the life and times and deat/resurrection.

Don't be surprised if you, nor anybody else gets it right regarding future events.

i.e. it's not that people don't believe Jesus' words. Rather, they don't accept the interpretations and speculation of some people regarding the future.

But if one educates themselves regarding the content of biblical prophesy and watches, the'll know it when they see it.

Antiochus Epiphanes IV is not the Little Horn.

The 7 Mountains = the 7 Kingdoms and since we know they were Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome and the Coming Anti-Christ we know they do not nor CAN NOT stand for ONE PLACE via a City, never did, never will. Rome is the Mortal Wound of the FIGURATIVE SEVEN HEADED BEAST.....The Anti-Christ Conquers Jerusalem and thus the "Mortal Wound" is healed. The Beast Entities went away when the Church was born, Jesus said the gates o hell will not prevail against my Church, thus until the Church is DEPARTED (2 Thess. 2:3) the Beast can not come forth. Israel also was as Dead Men's Bones for nigh 2000 years, thus there could be NO BEAST over them.

Jesus comes to deliver the Jews, not the Church at that time, the Church is Raptured before the 70th week tribulation period. The Last Day is basically speaking about a 3.5 year period of Wrath.

And also , That Generation, is speaking about the Generation that sees all of the Signs, and the Sun and moon not giving its light happens during the tribulation, which is after the Rapture. So only those living after the Rapture qualify.
