How do I know God has forgiven me.

Recommended Posts

When you have repented of your sins and asked Jesus into your heart, is that enough to get a person saved?  Do you also have to believe that you're saved at that point even if you see no indications that anything has changed?  Should a person be concerned if they have asked God for forgiveness but God's love still seems like it's not real to them?

What should someone expect from salvation?  Is it a life changing experience or is it much more subtle than that?  Do some people have a strong born again experience at salvation and others don't and if you don't should you be concerned?

Thanks for the reply,

I'm glad you had a life changing experience.  For me, I can't say that I've ever had any experience at all.  I guess my question is if someone doesn't have that experience, are they just as saved as someone who does?  Is it possible to live the Christian life entirely on what Jesus did for us or do we need other things, like God's love and presence in our lives?

Hello JohnKing67! Welcome to Worthy.

Christ's Blood shed on the Cross to pay the wages of sin for all who believe in Him, God's Love and Presence are all one in the same, not exclusive of each other. It is no longer a matter of what you"need" once you become Born Again, but what you should desire; to become Christ like. Yes, it is an impossible goal to achieve on your own, but making every effort to achieve it none the less is more than doable for everyone who believes. You cannot attain that perfection on your own, however if in your heart you are a true believer, try to walk in the Holy Spirit as much as you are able, Christ will bring you to perfection. This is Salvation, God's Love, and His presence in you at all times.

John 14:20 New King James Version (NKJV)

20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

1 John 3:1 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Command to Love

3 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of [a]God! Therefore the world does not know [b]us, because it did not know Him.

Romans 5:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9-10 New King James Version (NKJV)

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Galatians 2:20 New King James Version (NKJV)

20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Hope this answers you question JohnKing57

Cheers!!! :)

God desires us to know Him, to have a relationship with Him.  The Book says the fear of The LORD is the beginning of knowledge.  pursue God in prayer, and desire to Live as He commands.  you will mess up, but keep going.  Cry out to Him day and night until you have this knowledge of Him.  and keep in mind God dont do the same with everyone, some people He takes them fast, some slow.  In my case I had an "experience" at the time of salvation but it was not until some time later that I really knew God.  Things take time, and everything is in His time.  Everyone is different.  take me for example, I can be quite stubborn sometimes, I really do try not to be but sometimes it dont work out for me.  I have noticed on certain things God has me in suspense on and its not for awhile before I see where He is taking me or what He is showing me.  And i tend to have a hard time growing in Him in certain areas.  but His way with me is very through, and I dont see Him doing this with others.  When He is done the lesson takes real well.  it has made me become more patient also.  everything God does is for a reason and His reason is Good.  Trust Him, because He always has your best intentions at heart.  Another part of trusting Him is taking Him at His Word, believing Him.  He never lies and If He said it He will honor it.  100% of the time.

For a new believer trusting and Believing Him can be a hard thing to do.  I went thru it.  I was not saved in a church, I was locked up.  but when i started going to church I always wanted to makes sure i prayed the sinners prayer/salvation prayer at alter call.  I never went up but i prayed it.  I used to think, this time it took for sure.  for sure i am saved now.  A brother that God had preach the Gospel to me told me of His testimony of this same thing.  He did used to go up every sunday to have the preacher or one of the deacons pray for his salvation.  He said after quite a few times of doing this God spoke to him.  He said, "Whats are you doing?  I already saved you!"  he told me that was when He really believed it and never went up again.  Its quite common to have doubt until you have walked with God awhile and you learn to trust Him, and that He is trustworthy.  Just keep seeking God, and never give up until you do know Him.  and once you do, you will be so glad.

Hosea 10:12  Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Please make sure you get an early understanding of what true Christianity is—- and isn’t. It will spare you much confusion and needless worry down the road. Google Andrew Farley will the real Christianity please stand up.

True salvation comes at the end of brokenness. Did you feel a sense of brokenness, hopelessness, an understanding of how you had wronged God and could do nothing to save yourself from that? Following that is the understanding of the suffering Christ went through for our sakes, when He certainly did not have to. This should lead to a desire to change one's life in a fundamental way. True salvation does not come from works, but it should certainly lead us to them.

To be saved a person must believe Jesus.. His teachings.. And that person must trust the the atonement Jesus secured by His death on the cross secures for them forgiveness and eternal life in Gods perfect existence..

So Believing and  Trusting Jesus is the Key to Eternal life..

There are two kinds of people in this world forgiven sinners and un-forgiven sinners.. Make sure you are one of the forgiven ones..

My experience of salvation is a complete change in my Point of View of life and this world..

Lacking trust that Jesus secured ones salvation is something that should greatly concern anyone who claims to believe Jesus..  Doubting the salvation Jesus secured is like saying that Jesus is a liar and a fake and what He went through the save us was pointless..

Our confidence should never be based on ourselves and how worthy or unworthy we feel about our salvation.. Our confidence should always be based on Jesus and His worthiness..

What happens to the billions of people who know little to nothing about Christianity? Know nothing of the gospel and Christ.
Do they go to hell when they die? I was a Christian up until a week or two ago, when I realized that several people that I know, do not know about the gospel, and therefore can not be saved.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Faith is what saves you. Having faith in something that you know nothing about is a pretty tall order.
      Thanks for any guidance.

What could be the reasons why a seeking sinner may not be saved?
What does it mean to come to the Lord?
I am currently seeking the Lord, and even though God has shown me much of my depravity and sins, I struggle very much to "truly" Repent and "truly" believe. Pls. Pray to GOD for my Salvation and that I may truly be born again in CHRIST.

Please forgive me. I have been addressing you all wrong. I cannot claim a righteous anger defence [11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you-who are you to judge your neighbor? - James 4:11-12 New International Version (NIV)]. God wants better. I cannot scare you into heaven anymore than I can drag out of hell. God is in control. He makes and lets everything happen. All has and will happen for Christians' good [28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28 (NIV)]. My questionable Facebook activity has led to this apology and following testimony. May it encourage you and give you hope. Praise God.

Jesus Christ saved me from homosexual tendencies [10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers-and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine - 1 Timothy 1:10 (NIV)]. In my dark past I flirted with ideas, the scene and foreplay of man on man sexual relations. In the moment of those times it was a distraction and escape from my living hell. Such activity always had bad consequences [35 "Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Since you have forgotten me and turned your back on me, you must bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitution." - Ezekiel 23:35 (NIV)]. Yet like a nicotine addiction I was drawn back to get lost in that fleeting moment of oblivion. It and I was miserable. I will not give details here and now publicly. In person I am happy to answer questions and share Christ's solution with you. Praise God.

I love you. I care for your well being. My half life of suffering has grown great compassion and empathy. I weep and mourn for the lost, rejected, down trodden and oppressed, spit upon and left for dead. I know and understand because I was there as one of them. Now I am found, nurtured, lifted up and suffering gladly only because of Jesus Christ [17 But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the Lord, 'because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.' - Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV)]. Praise God.

He saved me from my living hell involving depression, drugs, marijuana, alcoholism, willful sin, pornography, homosexual tendencies, the occult, blasphemy, loneliness, numbness and people who accepted this and let it persist [3 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do-living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. - 1 Peter 4:3 (NIV)]. Now I am healed, restored, alive and well because I believe and am born again. I bear much fruit and look forward to a bright future in Christ. I will never return to the enemy. It pains me to look back or even be reminded of such serious suffering. I am sorry for your suffering. I am sorry I made you suffer. I continue to repent. Life is good to wake up to eternally because of the Son of God, my personal Saviour, our Lord [12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." - Acts 4:12 (NIV)]. Thank God.

And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Do you believe that this verse teaches that redemption means no more sin?  How do you interpret this verse?
