And have articulated doctrines the Scriptures don't teach...

  1. The Catholic church is the one true church
    1.  CCC 2105 "The duty of offering God genuine worship concerns man both individually and socially. This is 'the traditional Catholic teaching on the moral duty of individuals and societies toward the true religion and the one Church of Christ.' By constantly evangelizing men, the Church works toward enabling them 'to infuse the Christian spirit into the mentality and mores, laws and structures of the communities in which [they] live.' The social duty of Christians is to respect and awaken in each man the love of the true and the good. It requires them to make known the worship of the one true religion which subsists in the Catholic and apostolic Church. Christians are called to be the light of the world. Thus, the Church shows forth the kingship of Christ over all creation and in particular over human societies."
  2. Infallibility of the Catholic Church
    1. CCC 2035, "The supreme degree of participation in the authority of Christ is ensured by the charism of infallibility. This infallibility extends as far as does the deposit of divine Revelation; it also extends to all those elements of doctrine, including morals, without which the saving truths of the faith cannot be preserved, explained, or observed."
  3. Only the Roman Catholic Church has authority to interpret Scripture
    1. CCC 100, "The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted solely to the Magisterium of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him."
  4. The Pope is the head of the church and has the authority of Christ
    1. CCC 2034, "The Roman Pontiff and the bishops are 'authentic teachers, that is, teachers endowed with the authority of Christ, who preach the faith to the people entrusted to them, the faith to be believed and put into practice.' The ordinary and universal Magisterium of the Pope and the bishops in communion with him teach the faithful the truth to believe, the charity to practice, the beatitude to hope for."
  5. The Roman Catholic Church is necessary for salvation
    1. CCC 846, "How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body: Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it."
  6. Sacred Tradition equal to scripture
    1. CCC 82, ". . .the Church, to whom the transmission and interpretation of Revelation is entrusted, does not derive her certainty about all revealed truths from the holy Scriptures alone. Both Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honored with equal sentiments of devotion and reverence'."
  7. Forgiveness of sins, salvation, is by faith and works
    1. CCC 2036, "The specific precepts of the natural law, because their observance, demanded by the creator, is necessary for salvation."
    2. CCC 2080, "The Decalogue contains a privileged expression of the natural law. It is made known to us by divine revelation and by human reason."
    3. CCC 2068, "so that all men may attain salvation through faith, Baptism and the observance of the Commandments,"
  8. Full benefit of Salvation is only through the Roman Catholic Church
    1. "For it is only through Christ's Catholic Church, which is "the all-embracing means of salvation," that they can benefit fully from the means of salvation,,"  (Vatican 2, Decree on Ecumenism, 3).
  9. Grace can be merited
    1. CCC 2010, "Moved by the Holy Spirit and by charity, we can then merit for ourselvesand for others the graces needed for our sanctification."
    2. CCC 2027, "Moved by the Holy Spirit, we can merit for ourselves and for others all the graces needed to attain eternal life, as well as necessary temporal goods."
  10. The merit of Mary and the Saints can be applied to Catholics and others
    1. 1477, "This treasury includes as well the prayers and good works of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They are truly immense, unfathomable, and even pristine in their value before God. In the treasury, too, are the prayers and good works of all the saints, all those who have followed in the footsteps of Christ the Lord and by his grace have made their lives holy and carried out the mission in the unity of the Mystical Body."
  11. Penance is necessary for salvation
    1. CCC 980, “This sacrament of Penance is necessary for salvation for those who have fallen after Baptism, just as Baptism is necessary for salvation for those who have not yet been reborn."
  12. Purgatory
    1. CCC 1031, "The Church gives the name Purgatory to this final purification of the elect, which is entirely different from the punishment of the damned. The Church formulated her doctrine of faith on Purgatory especially at the Councils of Florence and Trent. The tradition of the Church, by reference to certain texts of Scripture, speaks of a cleansing fire:
    2. CCC 1475, "In the communion of saints, "a perennial link of charity exists between the faithful who have already reached their heavenly home, those who are expiating their sins in purgatory and those who are still pilgrims on earth. Between them there is, too, an abundant exchange of all good things." In this wonderful exchange, the holiness of one profits others, well beyond the harm that the sin of one could cause others. Thus recourse to the communion of saints lets the contrite sinner be more promptly and efficaciously purified of the punishments for sin.
  13. Indulgences
    1. CCC 1471, "The doctrine and practice of indulgences in the Church are closely linked to the effects of the sacrament of Penance. What is an indulgence? 'An indulgence is a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain prescribed conditions through the action of the Church which, as the minister of redemption, dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of the satisfactions of Christ and the saints.' 'An indulgence is partial or plenary according as it removes either part or all of the temporal punishment due to sin.' The faithful can gain indulgences for themselves or apply them to the dead."
    2. CCC 1478, "An indulgence is obtained through the Church who, by virtue of the power of binding and loosing granted her by Christ Jesus, intervenes in favor of individual Christians and opens for them the treasury of the merits of Christ and the saints to obtain from the Father of mercies the remission of the temporal punishments due for their sins. Thus the Church does not want simply to come to the aid of these Christians, but also to spur them to works of devotion, penance, and charity.
    3. CCC 1498, "Through indulgences the faithful can obtain the remission of temporal punishment resulting from sin for themselves and also for the souls in Purgatory."
    4. CCC 1472, "...On the other hand every sin, even venial, entails an unhealthy attachment to creatures, which must be purified either here on earth, or after death in the state called Purgatory. This purification frees one from what is called the "temporal punishment" of sin..."
  14. Mary (there are many false doctrines concerning Mary found in Roman Catholicism, here are a few)
    1. Mary is Mediatrix, CCC 969, "Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.'"
    2. Mary brings us the gifts of eternal salvation, CCC 969, "Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation..."
    3. Mary delivers souls from death, CCC 966, "...You [Mary] conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death."
  15. Prayer to the saints
    1. CCC 2677, "By asking Mary to pray for us, we acknowledge ourselves to be poor sinners and we address ourselves to the 'Mother of Mercy,' the All-Holy One. We give ourselves over to her now, in the Today of our lives. And our trust broadens further, already at the present moment, to surrender 'the hour of our death' wholly to her care."
  16. The Communion elements become the actual body and blood of Christ
    1. CCC 1374, "In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist "the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained."
    2. CCC 1376, "The Council of Trent summarizes the Catholic faith by declaring: "Because Christ our Redeemer said that it was truly his body that he was offering under the species of bread, it has always been the conviction of the Church of God, and this holy Council now declares again, that by the consecration of the bread and wine there takes place a change of the whole substance of the bread into the substance of the body of Christ our Lord and of the whole substance of the wine into the substance of his blood. This change the holy Catholic Church has fittingly and properly called transubstantiation."   https://carm.org/list-of-roman-catholic-false-teachings

The Holy Trinity is essential for true theology. It was The Trinity, One God in three persons in Genesis 1:27, Genesis 18, and the whole New Testament (John 14:27, John 15:26, John 20:20-22, 1 Peter 1:1-2, Matthew 28:19,  Matthew 3:16-17, 1 John 5:7, 2 Corinthians 13:14,   1 John 4:14, Acts 1:2, John 10:30, and beyond).

To reject the doctrine of Holy Trinity is to reject Christianity.

I'll just answer to one of the verses you gave, John 15:26.

John 15:26,

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

It mentions a comforter (holy spirit), a father, and Jesus himself. Try to imagine reading this verse without ever having heard of the trinity. What is it about this verse that indicates these three individuals are actually one?

The rest of the verses are just like that. The very fact that someone mentions their father in no way means they are the same entity. In fact, by any measure of language and the meaning of words, a father and son are by nature two completely different individuals. The Bible is the only realm where a son somehow becomes his own father. It makes no sense.

Why is it necessary to have a trinity anyway? God gave man free will. In that sense He limited Himself. Well, Adam didn't do very well with his free will. He used it to disobey God's one simple commandment. Why didn't God come down right then and there and set things right again? Because He had given man the dominion over the earth and it would not be just to simply change His mind and regain dominion from man. Instead He came up with a brilliant plan. If He could convince another man to obey Him to the death, that man would then be freed from sin and it would make it possible to once again have eternal life. But since man caused the problem, it had to be a man that fixed it. How hard do you suppose it was for God to arrange things so that some woman would finally say, "Be it done unto me according to thy word?" And then the resulting child would have to go through his entire life without sinning one single time. And remember, Jesus was just like you and I. He was tempted just like you and I. He had the same free will as you and I. He could have caved in at any moment of his life. It was just as tempting to him to take the devil up on his offer of world dominion as it would for you or I. I'm afraid I might have taken the devil up on his offer and I doubt I'm alone in that regard. But Jesus remained true to his father.

Would God have been tempted to take the devil up on his offer? How big of a deal would it be for God to believe he'd raise himself from the dead? How hard would it be for God to obey himself? Clearly none of these things would be any challenge to God. But for a man to pass all these tests; now that's another thing altogether. That is why I say making Jesus a god just minimizes the effort and discipline he exhibited in always doing his father's will at the expense of his own will (Luk 22:42). The fact they each had separate wills should have settled the question long ago. Unless God has a split personality, it is clear they are not one person. And it doesn't make a bit of difference to say, "yes, there are three person but one in essence." That is a non-sequitur if there ever was a non-sequitur. It's nothing more than a string of words completely void of meaning.

I hope you know that despite our difference in this matter, I love you as a brother in Christ, because I do!

The Trinity according to Jews For Jesus:

“Again, in Exodus 3:13-14, Moses says to God, “Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?” God’s answer to Moses is, “I AM THAT I AM…Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” Here God, when asked to identify himself, says, in effect, “I AM, I AM, I AM. Tell the children of Israel that the Triune God has sent you. Not Isis, not Moloch, not Baal, not Ishtar, but the unique Triune God of Israel has sent you.”

Then there is the blessing of Numbers 6:22-27: “And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, In this way ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee; The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.” Here God says three times that his name is THE LORD, and he promises to bless those who call upon him as THE LORD, THE LORD, THE LORD. This also seems to hint at the triune nature of God.

In Deuteronomy 6:4, the great Sh’ma prayer of Judaism, God says, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.” Again we see the three in one, The LORD, God, the LORD—one.

It appears that God revealed himself in his Triune nature whenever he was about to make some drastic change in his dealings with his people or when he was about to act in judgment.

Moving on to the historical books, in I Samuel 3 we find the beautiful story of God’s call to Samuel. Israel was far gone in apostasy and immorality, but the child Samuel ministered faithfully in the Temple. One night, when all was quiet and old Eli and Samuel were asleep, the Lord called Samuel. The passage in verses 4-9 begins, “…the LORD called Samuel. And he answered, Here am I. And he ran unto Eli and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.…And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.” When the LORD called Samuel the third time, Eli knew that this surely was God calling Samuel, and not a dream. Could it not be that Eli and other godly Jews believed in a triune God?

In Isaiah 6:3 we see that the Lord of hosts is not merely holy, but “Holy, holy, holy.” Again one Lord, but three times holy.

Another hint that godly Jews believed in a triune God may be seen in Jeremiah 7:4: “Trust not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The Temple of the LORD, The Temple of the Lord, are these.” There was only one temple and only one Lord, but belief in a trinity might be expressed by saying three times, “The temple of the Lord.” In this chapter we see that the Lord was chiding those who were careful to keep up with their religious obligations, and to hold true doctrine, but who did not carry their religion into the streets and into their own lives. He was telling them that their worship was correct and their beliefs were true, but their deeds did not match their worship or their beliefs.

There are also other passages that would seem to indicate the triune nature of God. Isaiah 48:16 and Zechariah 4:6 refer to the Spirit of God; there are two references to God’s son—one in Psalm 2 and another in Proverbs 30:1-4. Thus, we see that God, the Son of God, and the Spirit of God were known to ancient Israel. Could it not be that the Lord’s ancient people, those who knew God in truth, did hold to a belief in the triune nature of God?“ (Jews for Jesus, by Catherine Damato | Jun 1, 1987)

Deut 6:4,

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:

How does this verse say God is a trinity? If someone can say that, I can say with equal authority (which is really none), that God is 4 persons, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, and God the Creator. Of course neither one holds any water. Just leave it as, "The LORD our God [is] one LORD:" One is one.

A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

It is continually amazing to me how God is able to use our evil  for His good .

I was raised in a roman catholic church , school , at least until the age of 13  . And while I never received the salvation thru Christ message in the catholic church I was told about Jesus .

They could not avoid Him and they were compelled  to give their version of Him  .

And the more I was told of Him by the church the more I wanted to inquire further , because even as a child I remember feeling I was not getting the full story .

I instinctively felt they were not giving the whole story  .

Long story short , this lingering feeling of being shortchanged on who Jesus was is what directly led me to finding the amazing redeemer of my soul , and the eternal satisfaction that is now mine through this Jesus who is the Christ .

The subverting of the Gospel is what led me to salvation .

They meant it for bad , God used it for Good .

What has gone in within the catholic church is straight out of the pit of hell and thankfully I was never abused in that way , and every one of them will ultimately  answer for their sin .

I am just continually amazed and encouraged to learn of God's inexhaustible power of love generating joy , peace , and hope  in the bleakest of circumstances .

His cistern filled by the rains of heaven available to comfort our souls in the midst of the most hellish circumstances man can create

To point out fringe practices of some Protestant groups does not nearly compare to that list of RCC aberrations woven deeply into the doctrinal fabric of their Catholic Confessions and hits  at the central core of our faith.

Your attempt at 'aberrational equivalence' does not hold an ounce of water and is a sorry tactic of the Roman/liberal/ Islamic apologists.

I would appreciate you not telling me what ‘attempt’ I am making since you know neither my motives, thoughts, and reasons. I am not apply aberrational equivalence. I am simply saying the Romanite Church did articulate a major truth: The Trinity, in a very clear way. They at least do not absribe to Unitarian/Diest views, Pelegian Heresy (which only recognizes 1 Gospel and four epistles), Nestorianism (Zoroastrianism reborn, all Spirit is good and all flesh based things are bad), Coptic view (which is in harmony with Islam as seeing Jesus as a prophet), and Arianism which poor Arius did not start, He simply was trying to explain the two natures of Christ and His students/followers minsindersfood and started a cult.

It was a sad day when they went South from there.

Indeed, much of it was because of concessions to pagans. There were pilgrims of Europe in early Middle Ages v began venerated dead saints and thinking their bones could transfuse holiness to the person who touched it. Priests were disturbed by this and were going to confront it, tell one of them said “we can make money off this.” Then with the Saxons, they told the RCC that they must allow their paganism or else; and so RCC complied, “a covert is a covert,” or so they thought. This kept happening, concessions to pagans that allowed pagan beliefs to shelter under Catholicism. In some parts of Mexico there are crucifixes and saint stairs that open up and inside is their old gods of the Sun and Mother.

The scriptures declare that God does not judge as man judges. Men look on the outward appearance whereas God looks on the heart. There are plenty of folks who by all outward appearances do not believe the scriptures. Many simply because they haven't had the chance to hear them. What does God do with them?

Rom 2:14-16,

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and [their] thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

The Gentiles God refers to were "outside the pale" of God's chosen people and yet many of them were undoubtedly more godly in their actions than the average Jew who, as the OT shows, was prone to act less than godly. God understands that and when they are judged God will take it into account.

Of course the best way to go is to confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised him from the dead (Rom 10:9-10). Anyone that does that is judged on the spot and found righteous, as righteous as God Himself (Rom 3:21-22). It's better to settle the question in this life than to wait for the resurrections and judgments that will occur when Jesus is revealed to do the final judgments and set up the long promised kingdom. But that means someone must tell a person about the truth. How can they be expected to believe something they've never heard? So it is up to us to speak the word to them and give them the chance to settle their eternity right here, right now.

Rom 10:13-15,

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Obviously the RCC is not going to tell them the truth and nothing but the truth. That leaves it up to you and me. I guess we should get busy holding forth God's wonderful matchless word to men and women of any and all religions.

15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts,

Paul was clearly talking about Believing gentiles .    IN CHRIST .   because as it is written , I WILL put my laws in their minds and hearts ,   THE NEW CONVENTANT .

No JESUS , NO ETERNAL LIFE .      I fear if any says otherwise .   NO JESUS , NO ETERNAL  LIFE .    many folks do many good things ,   And they still headed straight to hell

IF they believe NOT in CHRIST .   just remember that ALWAYS  .

People get deceived way too easy .    OF course false ones can appear as men of righteousness .  Satan even appears as an angel of light .

How you think THEY DECIEVE .   they appear righteous ,they can say some truths ,  BUT they of satan and make no mistake about it .

Satans ministirs , as paul called them , SURE CAN appear as ministirs of righteousness.   AND JESUS warned how their would be massive deception , SPECIALLY nigh the end .

Folks ,  we better flee the false churches no matter what their men can say they adhere too .    Folks its just one giant pot of delusion mixed up and being served

with whatever added flavor appeals to whatever group .     I did my duty to man and GOD ,  I WARNED .   I DID .

Get away from ROME , warn against it , get away from all who are going under this unity move ,  Get away and get out or be deceived many will be .

I don't mind bursting bubbles so long as the bubble is not scriptural. I don't mind one bit bursting the trinity bubble. The trinity is the very starting point for all other wrong doctrine

Hi Rrobs,

Would you mind explaining Isaiah 9:6 to me.

Isaiah 9:6.    For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, & the government will be upon his shoulders . And He will be called Wonderful Councelor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of peace.

I see the child being born as Christ, a Son being Given from whom? if it is Christ it is given from the Father. the governments of our kingdom & the heavenly kingdom are on Christs shoulders, is not the Wonderful Councelor  reference to the (Holy Spirit)?. Mighty God Everlasting Father, (Prince of peace (Christ)

Not trying to be disrespectful to any, but what % of knowledge does mankind have relating to the universe?  Just because we can't sometimes understand one can be more than one, such as one family in one but can have an abundant in it.

With out going into to much & how many times, where the original language has (God is one) it is not singular.

Normally, the genuine comes first, before the counterfeit so to say Christianity copied the pagan trinity seems not to stick with me.

God Bless,

Sorry to get off the subject matter.
