Looking forward to koinonia on Sunday. Be travelling away this week.

No-one will be doing a sermon.

We don't do sermons at our ekklesia (assembly).

We do paraklēsis (exhortation).

We do oikodomē  (edification).

We do diakonia (ministry).

But we don't do sermons.

No sermons.

How do you like them apples?

In other words, your flock doesn't seem to have have a shepherd.

Not one that does sermons, or thinks we need them.

Hmm . . . interesting question that also seems to have a certain unfortunate attitude behind it. Others have already answered.

I'll add that if someone is going to bring up a problem, whether its with the church in the western world or something else, they really should bring some suggestions as to how to fix it too. Its just more church bashing otherwise.

Hopefully you have someone trained in rightly handling the Word of God and not just a flock of sheep baa-ing their opinion.

Now if i had used that tone id be warned. How does that work?

What  about the NT gathering? Everyone shared as they matured.

Also this. A sermon is a monologue. Only Jesus did this. No sermons there on forward.

And this. How do you know the one man at the top isnt making mistakes or straying from holy writ?

I use the word of God to correct. I get accused of bashing when i do.

Also the 'how do you like them apples' line seems like a smart alek.....but its possible this person has had enough of everyone bashing anyone that actually uses  scripture to describe what the NT assembly looked like. Im just saying. God bless. Lets keep it civil. Smile.

This is unheard of...atleast not in non-western churches.. no sermons/preaching? How do one learn the Word of God then? Even if u study them on your own, how do you make sure your understanding is correct? Some passages are hard to understand.

1 Peter 5:2 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;
Acts 20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.
Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

Jeremiah 3:15 "Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will feed you on knowledge and understanding.

How do you like them apples, from God!

Hello Michael37! Do you all speak Greek as well? Maybe you could give us more detail about how your Church actually operates. Those one liners simply leaves too much to conjecture, as the reactions here prove!

Care to share more please?

Cheers!!! :)

Monologue and dialogue. Apples and oranges. Paul taught in the context of a dialogue. Folks could ask questions, debate. Like the modern sunday school. Thats closer to the mark.

Monologue sermons were derived from the Grecians who spewed their philosophical rhetoric. Athens was noted for this.
