One is Hebrew and the other comes from Greek.  Both same place as I understand it.  Different words are translated as hell can be a bit confusing

I wouldn't use the word "mythology" in all cases, but I do think he used stories with which the people he was speaking were familiar. And Lazarus and the Rich man is an excellent case in point.

Mat 8:11  I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,

Mat 8:12  while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

There is nothing mythological about the things Jesus taught.  Some people who don't believe the Bible aren't genuine Christians, as is the case of my friend who prays to her dead parents.  She has made up her own religion, and has created a god that suits her ideas because she doesn't like some of the things the Bible plainly teaches.

The Jewish people of Jesus's day were scattered among the nations, spoke Greek and had a relevant witness for the Gentiles.
