I mentioned earlier that scripture songs can help you remember the verses because of the tunes. Are there any you can think of that have had that effect on you?

Does anyone remember this one from Isa 55:12?

When I was younger I went to a church that had some choruses we'd sing that came straight out of scripture. One of my favorites was this:

You Shall Go Out With Joy

by Stuart Dauermann And Steffi Geiser Rubins

You shall go out with joy

And be let forth with peace

The mountains and the hills

Will break forth before you

There will be shouts of joy And all the trees of the fields

Will clap, will clap their hands

And all the trees of the fields will clap their hands (We'd then clap)

The trees of the fields will clap their hands (clap)

The trees of the fields will clap their hands (clap again)

While you go out with joy

1975 Words and Music by Stuart Dauermann & Steffi Geiser Rubins

It is set to a lively tune. And you sing it faster each time you repeat the chorus. :) A fun song for the congregation to participate in.

A version of it like I've described can be found on YouTube by typing in: "you shall go out with joy" (by uploader Alice Peter)

I remember this, @turtletwo.

Yet what has been the most helpful to me, in my study of the Word of God, is the chorus we sang, 'Sixty six books in God's Holy Word', in which we would sing the books of the Bible in their order.  Very often if I want to find the position of a Bible book, not as familiar to me as another, I sing through the books until I find it.

It begins:-

 'Sixty six books in God's Holy Word,
telling the story of Jesus my Lord,
The books of the Bible I love so well,
The books of the Bible I love to tell.
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, numbers etc., --- to the end

* I have looked it up online and found a similar version, and others of a similar nature.

With love in Christ Jesus, turtletwo.

Hello again,

Many time a hymn line has come to mind at times when I have needed it.  Such as 'fight the good fight with all thy might', and 'my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness', also, 'on Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand.'

Last night in the early hours another hymn line came to mind, and it was wonderful.  It takes the form of a question:- 'Filled with all fullness, can it be?'   If you have experienced what I call 'night-nadgers' you will know why it was wonderful to have those words come to mind (Night nadgers are negative and anxious thoughts) For as I thought upon those words and considered their implication in my mind it drove those nadgers away and left me in a state of peaceful awareness of the fulness of the love of God to us, in Christ Jesus, and I was able to sleep.

* This is the hymn based on Ephesians 3:19,

' ... And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God'

Filled with all fulness, can it be
For Gentile strangers such as we?
We who the paths of sin have trod,
As aliens from the life of God.

Yes, 'tis for us, for Christ has died,
Now quickened, risen, glorified;
Seated with Him at God's right hand;
Complete in Him, by faith we stand.

May the same mighty power to save,
That brought our Saviour from the grave,
Strength to our inward man impart,
That Christ may dwell within our heart.

Then with all saints in every land
We'll in some measure understand
The love of Christ, that shoreless sea,
That saved and keeps eternally.

With love in Christ Jesus

'Singing and making melody in your hearts unto the Lord.' (Eph. 5:19)

Sing of the things which Christ hath done,
Sing of the glories He hath won,
Sing of His vast, eternal love,
Sing of our living Head above.

Sing of the things your souls have felt,
Tell how He pardoned all your guilt;
Sing of His wondrous grace and power,
Tell of His mercies to this hour.

Sing of the change His love has wrought,
Tell of the truth His Word has taught;
Sing of the freedom He has giv'n,
Tell of the hope laid up in heav'n.

Sing of His glories in the skies,
Sing till you to that glory rise;
There shall you sing and there adore
Christ your salvation evermore.

It's interesting how many old songs come to mind as I've been reading in the OT, especially Psalms and prophets.  I've been working on learning Greek better and I'm surprised how many Psalms I'm reading and realize I'm filling in a few words I don't know based off of songs I remember.

My heart was distressed ’neath Jehovah’s dread frown,
And low in the pit where my sins dragged me down;
I cried to the Lord from the deep miry clay,
Who tenderly brought me out to golden day.

Refrain:
He brought me out of the miry clay,
He set my feet on the Rock to stay;
He puts a song in my soul today,
A song of praise, hallelujah!

He placed me upon the strong Rock by His side,
My steps were established and here I’ll abide;
No danger of falling while here I remain,
But stand by His grace until the crown I gain.

He gave me a song, ’twas a new song of praise;
By day and by night its sweet notes I will raise;
My heart’s overflowing, I’m happy and free;
I’ll praise my Redeemer, Who has rescued me.

I’ll sing of His wonderful mercy to me,
I’ll praise Him till all men His goodness shall see;
I’ll sing of salvation at home and abroad,
Till many shall hear the truth and trust in God.

I’ll tell of the pit, with its gloom and despair,
I’ll praise the dear Father, who answered my prayer;
I’ll sing my new song, the glad story of love,
Then join in the chorus with the saints above.

:) Could you name a few of these? Or any from the prophets? I'm always looking for new ones to incorporate into my quiet time with the Lord. Thanks.

It's more of a recognition thing that I recall them when I run across them.   It's some of the old scripture in song types of songs from the 70s and 80s that I haven't heard in ages but they come to mind when I read various passages.

:) Sometimes they will just pop into your head out of the blue...at the least expected time.

Today when I was in the kitchen I found myself belting out a chorus we used to sing in church. My son says he remembers it from VBS.

If you want to check it out, it is on YouTube.

You can find it by typing in: "I Will Call Upon the Lord lyric video" (a catchy and lively one where the men and the women participate sort of like you'd sing a round)

2 Samuel 22:4

"I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies."

Psalm 18:46

"The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted."

Lyrics:
I will call upon the Lord
Who is worthy to be praised
So shall I be saved from my enemies
I will call upon the Lord

The Lord liveth and blessed be my Rock
Let the God of my salvation be exalted

:th_wave: There is a scripture song that I would like to share with you.

"REVELATION SONG" because it comes from Revelation 4:3, 4:8, and 5:12

It is special to me because it is a preview of the worship that will one day take place in the Presence of Jesus Christ in eternity.

Please feel free to click on it and praise our worthy Lord. :)
