I need to be saved - Will someone please pray for me?

Recommended Posts

Hello. Happy u found WCF. It's my fave christian forum.

Nice to meet you, whether the devil likes it or not you're going to be just fine. And I'm not just saying it. I mean it.

I know how you feel. I'm not saying that I've watched porn before but I've had my own personal sins that took me a long time to let go of.

At first you don't even realize it's a sin. Not because it isn't but because you don't want it to be so you trick yourself into believing that it isn't one. (Sorry about how sappy i sound😁😇😇)

You may take a direct approach to justify yourself like: "I don't see where in the Bible God specifically said porn is a sin"

Or a guilty "Is it even that bad? "

Then a slightly guilty "Maybe I can just a little"

Then to the angry " So what if i watch porn. It's my life anyway"

To the very guilty "I'll just sneak a peek i promise"

To the ultra defensive and bad mouthed " How is it my fault. Jesus never had porn in his time. "

To the final resignation " I need help".

I'm just saying my view ( i have never been in this position so I'm sorry if anything isaid is wrong in any way. It was through using the people i know as cases that i designed these approaches.)

Whichever approach you went through its over. I'm glad that you know its a sin and that is the first step: Acknowledgement. Stop justifying it. Accept that it's wrong and that you don't want to sin against God anymore.

Step two: Motive. Yes as a christian I'm encouraged and glad when people come to God but i want to ask and for you to all yourself "Why do i want to give up porn? ". Because motives matter. A good gift given with a bad heart is worse than being given nothing. Is it because someone kept nagging about how it's wrong or because you're afraid of being caught. Do you really know why it's wrong? Do you really feel that it's wrong or is it because you don't want to be mocked by Christians you meet. I'm not saying that it's right or that you should continue. Please understand that you have to believe that you are dirty to be made clean. Is it because people say it is? No it should be because you know that it's wrong and believe that it's wrong and need God's help to rid yourself if it. And that's when Salvation really takes place.

Step three: Jesus. To be free you have to believe Jesus. It's hard for me to put it in words but you have to believe that Jesus is real. You have to believe that he will hear you when you call on him. That if you cry unto him, he will answer you and that simply put is called faith. The fact that you believe that God loves you and came to die for you. It's a popularly preached story but do you believe it. You're free to ask questions, that's what we're here for. And if you do believe them your ready for the next step.

Step four: Confession. If you've followed the steps i gave them you are pretty much ready. Start with thanks for life and a chance to have a second chance. Then tell him about how you feel. You know. About porn. How you're sorry. Acknowledge him as your Lord and Savior. Just pray as you are lead.

Once you've done this you are officially a child of God. So welcome to the Family😂😂.

Step five: Life in Christ. I can't say much apart from the usual read your Bible and pray every day. But i do advice you do read your Bible. It's not just some book. It's God's word. A christian who doesn't read his Bible is like a rich orphan who doesn't know his inheritance. Or like carrying a gun with no ammo. Useless. The Bible has God's say and promises. If you don't know Mathew 7:7 then you'll be afraid to ask. You can't say what you don't know. It gives you an insight into how God feels about different things. It holds his promises and it's our gift from him. Our own love letter. So in times when you sin because change doesn't happen overnight. You have a solid rock to rest in because he encourages us. As a Christian, you are not perfect. The difference is that Christ perfects you and as long as you have him, everything will fall in pleasant places for you. I'm not saying its easy. It's never easy and never will be. I'm saying its WORTH IT.

That's all i can give you now. And i wish you all the best.

About finding a church: How's that going? Do you have a good church now? If you do, Hooray. If you don't, don't despair. Sometimes church may not be everything. I'm not saying you should give up your search for a good church. I'm saying you should atleast fellowship with other Christians in the mean time. That's why the apostles went in pairs on journeys. To have each other's company. To correct each other and grow in the lord.

I have an idea: if you can go to church then let church go to you. Before you think I'm crazy, listen. I didn't say start your own church. It doesn't even have to be a church. You can have a house fellowship with people like you who are new to Christianity and are zealots. You can have a trusted Christan friend who is firm in the lord. And you can share your experiences, failures and encourage and support each other. For where two or three are gathered God is there. You can preach your faith and win souls for God's kingdom. And expand your fellowship. I know it seems a bit too ambitious but i believe in you and in Jesus at work in you. I pray that God increases in you and that you grow in the lord.

Wow! What a long write-up. I'd love to type more but i have room of homework to do.

Hope it makes sense.

God bless you,

Chrisy.

Praying for you!

Once you are a christian you can trust that when you turned your life over to the Lord and repented through faith in Him,  God saved you and wiped your sins away as far as the east is from the west.  He said he has made your sins whiter than snow.  They are gone.  Don't beat yourself up over the past that's over.   We as christians, as much as we don't want to, still fall short and sin.  Keep short accounts with God.  If you sin, confess and turn away from it.

1 John 1:9 New International Version (NIV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You and we are in a spiritual battle so know each day you will be in a fight ...when you wake up.....pray to God..........read the bible and pray for help to overcome temptation.  Praise God and thank him for his blessings and pray for others and yourself.  Remember God is with you and near ... call to him and pray at times during the day.

I do want to recommend Bible Study Fellowship. It's free!  They are international.  I know they are in England.  They have courses for men and women.  They even have classes and fellowship on line now for people who cannot come to class or live too far away.  Not sure how it works you will have to check.  I used to attend for many years in the past and I thought it was a very good place to learn more about God, fellowship, and receive prayer.  Worthy is great too there is a prayer section here that you can place a prayer there and people will pray for you.

Here are some other verses.

The Armor of God -Eph. 6:

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

1 John 4:4 New King James Version (NKJV)

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

With God all things are possible !!!!!

God Bless You.

Hi!  I was just thinking about you and this verse came to mind.

Romans 13:14

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

Part of that verse to means to me to get rid of things so not easily available or stay away from places that will cause you to sin.   If it's a computer that's harder as you may need it for work etc.. maybe others have some ideas.

Hi and thanks everyone for all of your replies. I do need my computer and it's difficult when temptation is just a mouse click away. I almost succumbed today but I felt His presence and the strength I lacked was visited upon me and I was able to make time for other productive things. I believe absolutely in His presence in my life. I know He is here with me and that I will be safe should I need to call upon His immense love and mercy.

I am however completely daunted by it all. Where do I begin with the Bible? Do I read it cover to cover or do I start with a specific book? What Bible version do I use?

How do I reconcile what God wants from me with the direction the church is going in my country (UK)? I believe that the world must stop at the door to church and then as you enter that sacred solemn space, you feel as if you are being transported into a Heavenly realm but over here and in so many churches and places of worship, it feels like it's simply an extension of the world. Gender neutral inclusive politically correct language and a watering down of the Gospel to accommodate a liberal society.

What's the point of belonging to a church or congregation if it's simply a continuation of all I've come to know thus far? I need to look into finding a church. I am personally not comfortable with Hillsong. There's something 'off' for me about it and I can't explain it any better than that. Too many celebrity types and 'personalities' within it. It feels too polished, too much like a social gathering.

I think what I'm looking for is the exact opposite of where my journey has taken me until now. I was loath to become a Christian actually because of bad experiences I have had over this past couple of years since first thinking about such big questions. Over here in the UK when I broached with Christian leaders that I was struggling with issues relating to porn, I simply got a shrug of my shoulders and comments such as "We all struggle with these issues" or "Don't be so hard on yourself" and that felt like they were ignoring/enabling the problem. I need something robust, something which girds me, strengthens me. A traditional church approach.

Hello LostWithoutHim! If you want something "robust" then read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) These are the very words Jesus spoke and it doesn't get more robust then this!

As for finding a church, that will resolve itself as you get into comprehending Gods word. For now however, it is vitally important for you to be Baptized in water and the Holy Spirit so you are born again. Jesus tells you this in John. Hillsong's statement of Faith insures they are a Bible based church, so even if you do not wish to attend there, at least you will be Baptized in the right environment.

John 3:1-21 English Standard Version (ESV)

You Must Be Born Again

3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus[a] by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again[b] he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?”Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.[c] Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You[d] must be born again.’ The wind[e]blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you[f] do not receive our testimony.12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.[g] 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.[h]

For God So Loved the World

16 “For God so loved the world,[i] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

As for which Version of the Bible, the ESV is good as it is easier to understand then the KJV, but choose the one you are most able to read comfortably. Go to www.BibleGateway.com where you can check out different versions. Compare scriptures for the version best suited to you present understanding.

OK, stay in touch and let us know how you are progressing. As you already have discovered there are many believres here glad to contribute to your beconing a true Christian.

Cheers LostWithoutHim!!! :)

Praying for you!  Good to pray when you get up about temptation for the day but also have a plan for when after you pray do whatever God leads you to do .. but some find it  would be a good thing to do for example read the bible, memorize a verse etc. ....leave the area for awhile go for a walk, call a friend.

God Bless You.

Hello everyone, new here and checking the site out. Looking for like minded Christians to talk to from around the world. I currently live in Texas in the USA. God has put it on my heart to possibly move to, and at least visit the Philippines to do something over there like helping kids in need or families, but I've found it difficult to get to where I need to be to go through with leaving. Hopefully someone can help with a way to get involved and maybe join a ministry team over there. I hope you all have a blessed day/night and may God bless you and yours!

when you become a Christian, sometimes we want to take the old man into our new life. Did you find yourself challenged in this area? What was hardest to release?
