I need to be saved - Will someone please pray for me?

Hi and thanks everyone for all of your replies. I do need my computer and it's difficult when temptation is just a mouse click away. I almost succumbed today but I felt His presence and the strength I lacked was visited upon me and I was able to make time for other productive things. I believe absolutely in His presence in my life. I know He is here with me and that I will be safe should I need to call upon His immense love and mercy.

I am however completely daunted by it all. Where do I begin with the Bible? Do I read it cover to cover or do I start with a specific book? What Bible version do I use?

How do I reconcile what God wants from me with the direction the church is going in my country (UK)? I believe that the world must stop at the door to church and then as you enter that sacred solemn space, you feel as if you are being transported into a Heavenly realm but over here and in so many churches and places of worship, it feels like it's simply an extension of the world. Gender neutral inclusive politically correct language and a watering down of the Gospel to accommodate a liberal society.

What's the point of belonging to a church or congregation if it's simply a continuation of all I've come to know thus far? I need to look into finding a church. I am personally not comfortable with Hillsong. There's something 'off' for me about it and I can't explain it any better than that. Too many celebrity types and 'personalities' within it. It feels too polished, too much like a social gathering.

I think what I'm looking for is the exact opposite of where my journey has taken me until now. I was loath to become a Christian actually because of bad experiences I have had over this past couple of years since first thinking about such big questions. Over here in the UK when I broached with Christian leaders that I was struggling with issues relating to porn, I simply got a shrug of my shoulders and comments such as "We all struggle with these issues" or "Don't be so hard on yourself" and that felt like they were ignoring/enabling the problem. I need something robust, something which girds me, strengthens me. A traditional church approach.

What you said is true. There aren't much good churches.

But don't just give up. I glad you're on WCF. Where you can fellowship with strong Christians. But i have to say that if you haven't found a church then you can consider my idea of having a house fellowship. If it isn't much 😇😇😇😂

All the best

I really like the NKJV (New King James Version)...it omits all of the thees and thous.   Also, when I was in Bible college, they recommended the New American Standard Bible.  You should start with the Gospel of John, then read the other Gospels and the other books in the New Testament.

The book of Romans contains the doctrines of our faith.    James is good for practical Christianity.  Read 1 Corinthians 13....the famous love chapter, very important.   And read Ephesians chapter 6....about putting on the armor of God, helps in spiritual warfare.   The book of Ephesians is good.   Just a few ideas....

Keep checking around for a church....I hope and pray that you find one.   If you can't find a good non-denominational church, try checking for Baptist churches...they are usually good.   I like Presbyterian churches but alot of them here are liberal.   But some are good, Bible believing churches, if you can find one.  Just some ideas...

Hello LostWithoutHim

How well we understand your dilemma about finding a Bible-based, Bible-preaching, truly Christian church.  One where the Word of God is preached without fear or favour, The Gospel is adhered to, people are desperate for more of Jesus; people love Jesus more than anything else and forsake the "other gospels" that are out there.  There are so many now that have a "humanistic world view" - as you say,

This is the social gospel.  We are against it here on Worthy.  Sorry, that was Chrisy quoting you, but that was my mistake, quoting her quoting you.  lol.  Sorry about that.  But you get what I mean, because that is what you have encountered.

LWH, some of the "established church" is going that way.  But we who really love Him, who really understand what He has done for us on the Cross, long for Jesus every day.  We long for our Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit - thirst after Him, hunger after Him and all that He has for us.   You will find difficulties - but God will be with you all the time, journeying with you.

I suggest you pray for a church or home group that God will lead you to, that is right where He wants you - to learn, to grow, to understand what it means for Him to be the driver and you, the passenger.  So give it all into His hands and trust Him for the rest.  We will pray with you for the right place.

When you read about what the early church was like, you will probably want to be in a home church - sometimes, for a lot of people, these are really good ... and probably the way we mostly want to go.  But sometimes God will put us in a church.  For example, there is only one place my husband and I can go and we have no option, unless we leave and travel a long way somewhere else.  The repercussions of us leaving are too much, so we stay and love the people who are there.  We must trust God to change us all, in His own way.  But that is what we are faced with, for example.

We are praying with you for God's will for your life - which will happen, if you continue with all your heart with Him.  Another thing I forgot to say before - and this is really important - thank Him continuously for all He has done and will do.  I call it having "an attitude of gratitude".  God bless you.

Lost.....As hard as it may be to understand right now, you should be rejoicing! Why? You see the need to be saved— the realization Of That Truth puts you miles ahead of millions of others, Church- goers included.Who  can be saved unless they first see that they are lost? It seems obvious that you have reached that point. The Holy Spirit has convicted you of sin. What you need now is a Savior. Thank God, we have been provided with one.He did everything you need for salvation on the Cross. All that’s left for you to do is to believe it.Jesus Christ, through the apostle Paul in 1cor15:1-4, made a promise that He can not and will not go back on. Believe that He died for your sins and that He was crucified, dead and buried and then rose from the dead.Simply believing that and not trying to add to it ,thereby perverting it, puts you into The Body of Christ where you are secure forever .Untouchable. Don’t beat yourself up giving in to temptations that are extremely difficult to conquer and are common to men everywhere .Those sins have been payed for at the Cross.Leave them there. The indwelling Holy Spirit you have if you are a Believer will change your desires given time, but be aware God may use chaetisement to transform you into what He wants you to be.Don’t complicate what God has made simple—— “Anybody that asks to be saved WILL BE SAVED”. God bless.

One thing stood out in your statement..."I'm not the man I am"..you said it...you have to believe in the Lord..Not to say you don't.. to believe in him, we need faith..now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.  How do we know if we possess a needed characteristic that will result in our believing God...ask God..Read His Word...May God's Will Be Done In You

Hello everyone, new here and checking the site out. Looking for like minded Christians to talk to from around the world. I currently live in Texas in the USA. God has put it on my heart to possibly move to, and at least visit the Philippines to do something over there like helping kids in need or families, but I've found it difficult to get to where I need to be to go through with leaving. Hopefully someone can help with a way to get involved and maybe join a ministry team over there. I hope you all have a blessed day/night and may God bless you and yours!

when you become a Christian, sometimes we want to take the old man into our new life. Did you find yourself challenged in this area? What was hardest to release?
