'I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day ... '. (Rev.1:10)

Hello there,

I am beginning a study on the book of Revelation once again, and have looked at the first occurrence of the words, 'The Lord's day' , in (Isaiah 2:11):-

'Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust,
for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of His majesty.

The lofty looks of man shall be humbled,
and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down,
and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
For the day of the LORD of hosts
shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty,
and upon every one that is lifted up;
and he shall be brought low:'

(Isaiah 2:10-12)

* 'The Lord's Day', and 'the day of the Lord', are one and the same period of time. John, like Isaiah, Ezekiel, and others who witnessed the visions of the Lord, did so, 'in Spirit'. They were taken (in Spirit) to a  future time, to witness the events which occurred in that day, in order to testify to them, and record them for future generations, according to the will of God.

* This first occurrence of the term, gives us the key to it's meaning, and tells us what will take place within that 'day' (or period of time).

* 1 Corinthians 4:3-5, tells us that we are now living in Man's Day, a time when man is judging. In 'The Lord's Day' it will be He alone that will judge, and then the words of Isaiah 2, quoted above, will come into it's own.

Praise God!

In Christ Jesus
our risen and glorified
Saviour, Lord and Head,
Chris

I disagree. The early church called Sunday "the Lord's day" and they began coming together on that day.
