She will commit other sins down the road-she is human, after all.Same principles apply to the adulteress.She got a warning for the one specific sin.Paul was “ chief of sinners” many year after he was saved.Was this woman or us expected to do better than he did? I believe the born again person is of God tied directly to The Person of God The Holy Spirit... so yes we are to strive to be of God in all that we are! This means a constant battle of flesh and s/Spirit here... it is God Who keeps separate the things of flesh (things of this world that pass away) from the things of s/Spirit (which God keeps with Himself for all eternity). How do we know the "if we say we have no sin" in verse 8 isn't in response to trying to find redemption? Can it be assumed he's also talking about a person who's already been redeemed? But that would also make what Jesus said impossible when he said to "be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect". How can anyone be that perfect if they're always a sinner even after salvation?
