"We have no concept of a preemptive strike," Putin told a forum of international experts in the southern city of Sochi in response to a question from the audience. "In such a situation, we expect to be struck by nuclear weapons, but we will not use them" first, he said. It's my understanding that Putin and a lot of the Russian people are Russian Orthodox Christians. According to several surveys 70 to 80% of the population claim to be Christians If their church members are Christians then Putin is probably right. Putin himself was raised in a Russian Orthodox home. His mother was a devout Christian. Putin has a reputation that he may not deserve; none of us really know considering most of our input is from the US mass media which seems really stretched to print the truth about anything.
