Psalm 34:13 So we should always think about what we are saying, learn to control our tongues. 1 1

One of my favorites. There is a song with these lines: Like Apples of Gold in pictures of silver A word fitly spoken shall be, Like Apples of Gold in pictures of silver Let my life bring glory to thee. Proverbs 25:11 King James Version (KJV) "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." That's a beautiful song, I never heard it before! 2

However, this issue of o9ur words has been heavily on me for the last 6 months. Not only do I want to speak words that might have spiritual power I want to speak the way I remember my grandparents did. In other words I'm working on cleaning up my mouth and not just from cuss words. I'm finding that to succeed in doing this that first I have to change how I think. I have to think right to speak right. 1 2

Proverbs 26:21 The above is a short verse but speaks volumes. Have you ever been around a person who seems to have an argumentative spirit? They are contentious. It's best to seek to be a peacemaker while in their company. Don't get led into strife by their contentious words. 1 2

And in his temple all cry, “Glory!” 10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. 11 The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. That's Psalm 29 and it was very useful recently when I was having a down day. I kept repeating as many of these words as I could remember and the words of the Lord also have power in them. There is also healing in the words of God. 2 1
