Call fish and game or check their website. They can tell you how to deal with them. In my area we see them well within the city. They have attacked kids too. But then we have had mountain lions in the city too.

Cool! Are they a pest at all and why are they called "road" runners? Are they always on the roads?

Not sure why they are roadrunners. They are not as common in my area as they used to be Perhaps because their habitat is built out. Their behsvior is funny. They patrol an area with precision at the same time each day. 1

Thanks for your input. Interesting to hear that the coyote is much faster than a road runner, but slower than the fox. They sound like a huge pest to me! BTW, what is a "road-runner" in reality? I didn't mean that as top running speed, but in reflexes so as to quickly kill something.... The Coyote runs much faster than a fox in all out running speed. I read somewhere that a coyote can run about 40 miles an hour

I've learned that they can run up to 26 mph and they expose their so called, "solar panel" (lower back area) to the sun to raise their body temperatures by 7 degrees, primed for a super-heated performance. For the roadrunner, your open roads are like race-tracks, good for chasing insects and lizards! Praise God for His amazing creation! 1

Go swimming in their territory and you can expect to end up doing the crocodile roll death dance in the water with them.. So never swim in the northern parts of Australia.. Yeah Blue heelers have dingo blood in them.. They are very smart dogs that need a lot of work to keep them from being destructive.. But they are a great cattle dog for sure.. ? 1
