Lest I steal and take the Lords name in vain .        It aint just words , its our actions TOO .      I know most folks will say , saying the G D word istaking his name invain .

BUT IT aint the only way .    And on that note , let no man receive the grace of GOD in vain either .

its tacky.  saying The Lords name at the end of every other sentence or saying it as an expression where another word could be used, normally a four letter word.  its also ironic.  the very name of the One that could set them free is constantly on their tongue.

Is it okay to use God's name as an expression?? I mean, many Christians would say it is more better than actually use the devil's name as an expression..

by expression I mean saying the name "Jesus Christ" instead of a four letter cuss word.  so no, its not ok.  it is using Gods name in vain.  just saying it to have something coming out of their mouth.  Jesus Christ is The King of Kings.  we should honor Him and His name.

How would it make you feel if i started a fad where every time something bad happened or someone said something hard to believe i said... SisterCess.  that would be pretty disrespectful and get old pretty fast... wouldnt you think?

You're right.. I told my friend about it but she's against it because someone from the church where she once attended said it is okay than saying "yawa" which means satan in english.. she dont really understand and still continue doing it.. ?

When you swear an oath by God, when you consider the greatness of God's name, do not do so lightly. Don't overcomplicate things:

1) Make sure you've trusted Jesus, who is perfect, to pay for your imperfection via His cross and resurrection.

2) Receive freedom from Jesus Christ.

Also consider not swearing at all. What was it our Lord said about wise counsel, number of hairs upon the head, or what color they may be.

A promise from the Lord is Eternal. No need for the likes of mankind to place value on one another by appearance of any standard.

For the Faithful are under a single banner.

Amen..

Certainly. I was just giving the context for the 14 centuries of law before Jesus said, "Don't take vows and swear."

I wonder if calling Him 'LORD LORD' is using His name 'in vain/to no purpose, if we don't do what He says ? Lk 6v46

looks to me like He expects us to 'obey Him ! or He won't do anything for us. it may have something to do with 'learning to become obedient see Heb 5v8, 9.

it would certainly be necessary for sinners to 'change their ways to get into God's Kingdom.

I wonder if calling him Lord Lord actually means we are addressing the biblical LORD.

Rhetorical question of course because if one cannot say Jesus is God; they dont have the indwelling spirit to know . The Holy Spirit teaches all scriptural truths. He directs the straight path.
