Muslims protecting their Jewish and Christian neighbors

Recommended Posts

I thought in the spirit of a little balance I'd share some uplifting stories of Muslims protecting Christians and Jews. For those of you who celebrate Christmas or otherwise increase your Christian activities, I hope everyone reads stories like these and thinks about the type of rhetoric we use and allow into our lives. It's very easy to hate and divide, it's much harder to show love and compassion. The bible says to love your enemy and go beyond simply loving those who are like us.

Luke 6:32-36

32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Matthew 5:43-48

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

This thread was so incredibly contentious that i wiped it and moved it to a moderated forum.

there is much to learn about Islam to understand what these people did and why....     to not understand Islam puts one in a position to miss out om most of the context of what this is all about....  and without both parties in a discussion having access to all the information on Islam will make the discussion contentious and/or very long.  I will just say that if a person is willing to submit to Allah and follow Sharia Law (whether or not he is a believer in Allah) and pays a pour mans tax, when he asks a Muslim for protection from another non believer it is the duty of the Muslim to do so as long as the person being protected is in submission.
