Luke 16:9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

Oh, the obscurity of old English! It doesn't mean "make friends with mammon" but "make friends using mammon"!

So, the NIV translates this verse: "I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings."

In other words, use Money to do good to people, and it will be an investment for the future life (see also Luke 12:33,34).

It is talking about being faithful using another man stuff, even if that man (your boss) is unrighteous. For then if you are faithful towards that, God will give you your own stuff to be faithful over.
