It's something I thought about when it comes to my life. I don't like being single.. definitely have a desire to marry.... But my perpetual singleness makes me reflect to think Maybe God wants me to serve him through a life of prayer. Idk Edited November 14, 2018 by Figure of eighty . Idk Whether single or not, I think prayer and serving Him are not really negotiable for His children. I would say, perhaps for some, the reason they are not married is because they are not really ready for a relationship with someone, or at least a successful one. First have a successful relationship with the Lord, which is not possible without prayer or dedication to Him. If we cannot get that much right, then is it fair to say that God is doing us a favor by not bringing someone else into our lives? 1

Since you have a desire to marry, you apparently do not have a single calling.

I had a pastor a while back who said singles would come into his office wanting to get married and married couples would come in wishing to be single again. -Selah. I saw the other side of that as an NCO in the Air Force. Lots of divorces and adultery due to deployments, and most were the nasty kind with kids involved. Not something I was all that comfortable talking with someone about since I was (and still am) single. I've heard the same thing the pastor has too. I guess that should be filed under, "Be careful what you ask for." - because you might get it! ?

Read 1 Corinthians 7 for Paul's relationship advice.

Idk When I was interested in a life of prayer it didn't occur to me that it was because I was single. I didn't see any connection at all between the two. And I still don't. In my prayer time I prayed to find my future spouse and did within two years. Having a life of prayer is supposed to be because you're a Christian, not because you're single. We should be not only asking for His guidance , blessings, help for ourselves , & others but in prayer glorifying & blessing HIS name in thanksgiving for what He has done and also for His abiding Presence.
