December 10 = LUKE 10

From yesterday's reading.....I've always wondered if there is a significance of 12 basketfuls left over at the feeding of the  5,000 or does that number 12 have no special significance.

What's your view?

@Jayne I've always wondered that, too :laugh:lol. Glad to find someone else out there was thinking like me.

My view is yes. It's as though Jesus was personally aiming it at them as a way to say, "Each one of you, here is a basket full of leftovers to remind you...never doubt what your Master can do."

:)Of course, that is just me speculating. It does seems that God likes the number 12, though. Not only for the 12 apostles but also the 12 tribes of Israel.

@Jayne   Hi. :) This has been a lot of fun. I am really enjoying it.

I wanted to share something with you and all those reading this.
I was inspired to write a poem after reading Luke 10: 38-42

Mary and Martha...the Contrast of Two Sisters

Obsessed with all the work to do

And company to feed

The sister Martha bustled on

To do these tasks with speed

But sister Mary chose to rest

Enjoying Jesus there

She wasn't swept into these things

Or filled with earthly care

Instead she sat at Jesus' feet

With worship in her heart

And Jesus pointed out that she

Had chosen that good part

No one could take away from her

His presence, her delight

While Martha did not understand

And said it wasn't right

Two sisters, very different

Who both served in their own way

But Mary knew what mattered most

As we must too, today

And the thing is , HAD MARTHA been focused on her work as also a work unto the LORD ,   SHE had been filled with JOY as she was preparing the meal , instead of seeing

it as a burden  .   OH YES my dear loved sister , whatever we do, let us do as unto the LORD and our joy shall be full.

Put those hands up and let all rejoice in the LORD .
