Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” 33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.” 34 Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.” Some things that stood out to me from today's reading of Luke 22 1) In verse 31 I see that Satan goes to God to ask permission to attack those who belong to the Lord. He did the same thing with Job... 2) in v 32 Jesus says that He is specially praying for Peter. I find this amazing and touching. 3) Jesus says "When you have returned to Me strengthen your brothers." This shows me that the reason why we are strengthened by God is to minister to others. 4) Peter is so sure of himself, boasting that He would be willing to die for the Lord. But we all know that what Jesus forewarns of in v 34 comes to pass. This shows me I should never have too high of an opinion of myself. As 1 Corinthians 10:12 says, " Wherefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall." 2
