At work we are having a training day and they want us to have a section of doing yoga.  I have stated that as a Christian I would be unable to take part.  I have been told it’s about emptying yourself in meditation which means that any unclean spirit could enter in.

At work they are saying it is a science not a religion.

My mentality is that if there is any chance of it being wrong then I should abstain.

so .... yoga yes or yoga no is my question?

Are they asking you to meditate or "empty your mind" or is it just the exercising.  There's a difference.

Tell them the meditation is not something you can participate in if that is how you feel.

...and that's exactly what can happen, all of the different positions are used to invoke different demons, ...not to mention the altered state of consciousness!

Here's what the Holy Spirit wrote about it through Paul:

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.   2 Cor 6:14-18

I think it's completely up to you, I don't see where it matters one way or another.

Abstain from that type of meditation and agree if you can only do the exercises if they will not excuse you.

John, this is an eastern influence which has detrimental implications for us as christians, and therefore we should not open ourselves to the temptation. I say Georgie shows wisdom in asking for advice, go girl.

I do one yoga exercise that helps my balance for kickboxing, no where in the bible does it say don't do yoga, and even if it did that would be law, and we're not under law.

One group renamed yoga positions 'Praise moves' and offers it as Christian.  Many stretches are similar to those in military physical training or those recommended for office workers to avoid issues caused by sitting all day.  Some yoga practices are only exercise and stretches with zero spiritual content, others include much meditation and spiritual parts.

John 1 I'm hearing what you're saying, but I choose to disagree with you, however,I'm not going to argue as it's obviously a matter between you and your conscience, as it is for each and every one of God's children, when we all stand before the Throne to give an account. Let God be True, and every man a liar.Have you checked out the above post from Cletus and his knowledge of the subject, it's over to you?
