Galatians 2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. By believing the gospel we have eternal life, the forgiveness of sin. But, there is more to the gospel. Romans 1:16 Ephesians 1:13

Peter, fearful of the Jewish believers, was reverting back to law keeping for justification; seeking to conduct oneself in a manner approved, and pleasing to the Lord; sanctified, or purified for use. Paul was preaching a gospel of liberty from the law; and walking in the Spirit for our justification, or sanctification. Paul was rebuking them for falling back to lawkeeping to sanctify themselves. The law does not have the power to help us live unto God; we are dead to the law, that we might live unto God. Galatians 5:25 Galatians 5:4 Galatians 2:19

In Galatians 2:14, Paul spoke of not walking uprightly ( acting right, how we conduct ourselves ) according to the truth of the gospel. The gospel contains what Christ has done for us on the cross. Christ died for our sins, but also unto sin. Christ has freed us from sin. Romans 6:10 Romans 6:7

We have been baptized into Jesus Christ, and his death, by the faith of Christ. We are raised with Him to walk in newness of life. Romans 3:22 Romans 6:4

We are to reckon ( deem ) that our old man is dead, crucified with Christ; that we should not serve sin, but serve God. Romans 6:6 Romans 6:22

We reckon that what God says is true. We are to obey the doctrine we are given. By faith, we believe it, and acknowledge who we are in Christ. We chose to believe, we do not have to let sin have dominion over us; we do not have to sin. Romans 6:17 Romans 6:14

When we do sin, we know we have been forgiven, and press on; we are to determine that the power of Christ's resurrection is ours as well. Philippians 3:10

We do not attain to this resurrection, but we press on, to obtain it as our goal. To whatever we have attained, we should walk by it. Philippians 3:12 Philippians 3:14 Philippians 3:16
