Philippians 4: King James Bible

But, after looking at the subject: Sound doctrine , we would rather address the following question from Willa: Where is the word doctrine in Phil. 4?

The word doctrine is not in the 4th. chapter of Philippians, except that the whole chapter has subtitles. But why you asked? I'm curious.Did you read the whole chapter for context.

"Stand firm in the Lord!" (verse 1)

But that's really looking back to what Paul said in chapter 3.

I see it as an exhortation more than a teaching.

Here is another exhortation, it came to me as I was reading the topic. " Be glad in The Lord and rejoice, all ye that are upright in heart, and ye that have made Him your choice, bid sadness and sorrow depart.  Rejoice, rejoice, be glad in The Lord and rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, be glad in The Lord and rejoice." Just saying, God bless.

Yes. That was my first thought too, Willa, and as we both know there are other passages that do instruct us in regard to this thread title (TT). e.g.

Tit 1:7-11
(7)  For a overseer must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,
(8)  but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled,
(9)  holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.
(10)  For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
(11)  whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain.
