Matt 24:40 "Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left.

Some say the taken one is the picture of a wise virgin taken by the Bridegroom to escape the grief tribulation, this is logic.

Some say the taken one is judged for destruction, why would God need to take them for destruction as the whole earth is already set for destruction in the great tribulation ?

Hi R. Hartono,

Also, many think it has to do with the rapture, but the context tells us what it means.

`But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of man be.

The two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.....` (Matt. 24: 36 - 40)

The situation here is that one man will be taken away, as those who were in the flood were taken away. The man will eventually face judgment at the Great white Throne. (Rev. 20:11 - 15)

The man that is left will go into the millennium as he would have looked after the Jewish persecuted brethren. (Matt. 25: 31 - 40)

Marilyn,

Those left will be given to the antichrist :

Rev 13:7 and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

The taken one will be to the cloud :

1 Thes 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Hi R. Hartono,

The context is when the Lord comes `so will the coming of the Son of Man be.` (Matt. 24: 39)  Jesus did not reveal about the Body of Christ till He told the Apostle Paul, many years later. It was a mystery not known even by the Old testament Prophets. (Eph. 3: 1 - 7)

We know it already now by Paul's writing that the taken one is here :

1 Thes 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Hi RH,

You have not proven by scripture that the two are the same. You have just assumed that. Matt. 24 scripture is to Israel, while the 1 Thess. 4 is to the Body of Christ. Now that is basic teaching there bro, -  who is talking to whom. You seem to think it is all about us. So do you read a newspaper as all about you? No, of course not. Well then we do not read God`s word as all about us. God`s word is to reveal Christ to us and His purposes for the 3 groups - the Body of Christ, for Israel and for the nations/

there is no valid reason to connect those two passages, and many reasons not to.

This verse is showing the rapture :

Matt 24:40 "Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left.

Which is later explained by Paul :

1 Thes 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

oh is it?  then how do we explain that those TAKEN in  Noah's day were TAKEN in judgement!  Those "left behind" were the RIGHTEOUS.  Yet you would have me to believe that the next verse He completely REVERSES His  own example and suddenly those left behind are the unrighteous being judged unworthy of His rescue and those taken are the righteous?

I think those who expect a pre-trib rapture based on such a 180 degree interpretation are in for  a MAJOR surprise.......there IS no rapture pictured there...never has been and it's getting very  late to perceive that...not a lot of time left.

There IS NO CONNECTION between the two passages...and both are misunderstood if you force one on them.

“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.  Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.  Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

The Word is clear.  Read it for what it says, not for what makes it fit your pet idea.  There is NO way He didn't understand what He meant to say there.  Those taken from field and mill are JUDGED...NOT RESCUED
