Some people faint at the sight of blood. When we see blood we know it has come from a body. We know that blood in a body is important for its life and we also know that if a body loses too much blood it dies. Yes, when it comes to blood there is a dual association between it and both life and death.

Here's a reference to the blood of Christ, referred to as PRECIOUS, and as of a PERFECT lamb.

1Pe 1:17-21
(17)  And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;
(18)  knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
(19)  but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
(20)  He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you
(21)  who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

If this subject interests you, maybe you would like to post another verse that pertains to the blood of the Lamb that was slain.

Hi Michael,

I thought I`d go back to why His precious blood had to be shed for us.

`Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning, .....from the hand of man....Whoever shed`s man`s blood, by man his blood shall be shed...` (Gen. 9: 5 & 6)

Here we read that God gave Man the responsibility of government over man. And not only for shedding blood but all lesser crimes under that will require a reckoning. Then finally God will judge accordingly. But praise the Lord, Jesus came and paid the price for us as `all have sinned,` and need a Saviour, a Redeemer. The full price was paid in the precious blood of the Saviour.

regards, Marilyn.

Thanks for your reply, Marilyn. A very fitting reference and a point well made. It reminded me of covenants made with blood, and this weighty warning about the covenant made with Christ's blood, His precious blood which is not to be dismissed as something unholy.

Heb 10:28-29
(28)  Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
(29)  Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

The gold, brass bronze, silver etc that was sourced from Egyptians was used to make the brazen altar and other Tabernacle fittings and furnishings.

They dragged a lamb to the altar, cut its throat and placed the screaming quivering beast on the the fiery grill. Covered in blood with the stench of burning flesh and blood they would observe that sacrifice on a DAILY basis - twice per day. The shadow of things to come when our Lord would likewise suffer.

The Israelis were aware of the bloody sacrifice and the pain and mess of it all. This was before they could enter the Tabernacle and be bathed in the Menorah's light.

We have lost the gravity of it all. Nothing related to our freedom is free of blood, pain and suffering.

Our freedom is not free.

Good input from you there indeed, Justin. I believe the OT types, shadows and prefigurings are really important to our appreciation of the eternal heavenly worship of the Lamb that was slain

Isa 53:7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.
Rev 5:11-14
(11)  Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,
(12)  saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!"
(13)  And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: "Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!"
(14)  Then the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.
