When a person wants to end their life, it is a sin, but thinking about committing suicide is a temptation, it may not be a sin, because it can lead to sin. Also it can lead to a extremely negative mindset that is really really hard to come out of. The bible says ending your life is cowardly and then it says that cowards will not enter into heaven.
