I used to argue against women preachers / teachers in the Church from

Miriam (sister of Moses) to the Prophetess Deborah...

From Priscilla and Aquila to Junia, and interpreting in Revelation the

teaching of Jezebel (meaning that she was teaching men)...

The the Holy Spirit impressed on my heart the question "Then it would be better that the

Gospel is not preached at all than that a woman should preach to men?"

I was completely undone.

You see... when men step up in appropriate numbers, THEN the biblical teaching about women

preachers takes priority. But when men do not step up, God has always filled the gap with women.

Miriam (sister of Moses) the prophetess Deborah... the women at the empty tomb, and so on.

By the way... ALL believers in Jesus Christ are priests of God (Revelation 1:6, Revelation 5:10, 1 Peter 2:3-9).

So the number of male preachers is somewhat lacking.

And the Gospel mandate is to preach to every creature in every generation.

So...

If you disagree with this... then by all means YOU step up into the preaching ministry.

Be careful what you ask for... you just might get it (or God may require you to answer your own prayer).

Jesus said to his disciples, "You feed the 5,000..."

I've often heard that women aren't supposed to teach men in church. But my question is does this verse apply just in church or everywhere? I'm wondering specifically about teaching and exercising authority over adult men. Would this apply to a female college professor?

1 Timothy 2:11-14: "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner."

Timothy refers mainly to authority over men in the field and in marriage but not in general. There is nothing wrong with a female teacher.
