Music is often a part of special remembrances and celebrations.

I thought we could share which songs are especially meaningful to us at this time of year.

You could list them, explain why or even post the lyrics, if you wish.

I will start with the Sacrifice Lamb. The lyrics are below:

Have you ever heard, Messiah has come,
It says in His word, to cleanse everyone,
Atonement He made, iniquity He bore,
That we can find life, with Him evermore.

The Sacrifice Lamb, has been slain,
His blood on the altar a stain,
To wipe away guilt and pain,
To bring hope eternal.
Salvation has come to the world,

God's only Son, to the world,
Jesus the one, for the world,
Yeshua is He.

The prophets of old, speak much of Messiah,
His death is foretold, the purpose is clear,
Isaiah did say, 'twas for an atonement,
To give us a way, that leads not to death.

So brother of mine, look not to yourself,
For we are but one, we all need His help,
We've broken the law, be He paid our debt,
That we can find life, by Yeshua's death.

There is the song written  to tell of the experience of the first person to see  resurrected Jesus as told at John 20

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3 So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. 4 Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there,7 and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus'[a] head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10 Then the disciples went back to their homes.

Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14 Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.

"I have seen the Lord" - Mary Magdalene

The song most know is" In The Garden" written by C. Austin Miles.( See Wikipedia for a history) almost every singer has recorded it from gospel to rock to opera.

There is even one, a different one,  of that title written by Bob Dylan which follows:

"In the Garden

WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN

When they came for Him in the garden, did they know?
When they came for Him in the garden, did they know?
Did they know He was the Son of God, did they know that He was Lord?
Did they hear when He told Peter, “Peter, put up your sword”?
When they came for Him in the garden, did they know?
When they came for Him in the garden, did they know?

When He spoke to them in the city, did they hear?
When He spoke to them in the city, did they hear?
Nicodemus came at night so he wouldn’t be seen by men
Saying, “Master, tell me why a man must be born again”
When He spoke to them in the city, did they hear?
When He spoke to them in the city, did they hear?

When He healed the blind and crippled, did they see?
When He healed the blind and crippled, did they see?
When He said, “Pick up your bed and walk, why must you criticize?
Same thing My Father do, I can do likewise”
When He healed the blind and crippled, did they see?
When He healed the blind and crippled, did they see?

Did they speak out against Him, did they dare?
Did they speak out against Him, did they dare?
The multitude wanted to make Him king, put a crown upon His head
Why did He slip away to a quiet place instead?
Did they speak out against Him, did they dare?
Did they speak out against Him, did they dare?

When He rose from the dead, did they believe?
When He rose from the dead, did they believe?
He said, “All power is given to Me in heaven and on earth”
Did they know right then and there what the power was worth?
When He rose from the dead, did they believe?
When He rose from the dead, did they believe?

But the traditional song written in 1912 makes excellent sense when one first reads the experience of Mary Magdalene as recorded at John 20

"C. Austin Miles writes his own story on how the words were written to 'In the Garden.'

'One day in March, 1912, I was seated in the

darkroom  where  I  kept  my  photographic

equipment  and  organ.    I  drew  my  Bible

toward me; it opened at my favorite chapter,

John 20 .    That meeting of Jesus and Mary

had lost none of its power to charm.  As I read

it that day, I seemed to be part of the scene.  I became a silent witness to that dramatic moment in Mary's life, when she knelt before her Lord, and cried, 'Rabboni!' . . . Under the inspiration of this vision I wrote as quickly as the words could be formed the poem exactly as it has since appeared.  That same evening I wrote the music.' " - credit College of the Open Bible

The lyric:

"I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Refrain

I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

Refrain

I have posted Bob Dylan's presentation of His In The Garden at Christian Videos for moderator approval. It is a live performance. It is rock for sure. I do enjoy the experience that is Bob Dylan as it relates to the life struggles of most of us. I did not appreciate him early on, but later  on in my own life discovered his  "personality" with much interest.

If the performance is too much for some there is a quieter smoother studio version complete with depictions of what is being sung about on youtube as well.

@Neighbor :)Thanks so much for these posts. Also, for telling me about the Passover with Zola broadcasts. I watched both parts with interest and learned a lot. Very informative.:) My friend who watched them with me thought so, too.

The resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is such a joyous event! I love all songs about it.

Here are the words to a hymn written by Charles Wesley in 1739:

Stanza 1:

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!

Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!

Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!

Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Stanza 2:

Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!

Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!

Death in vain forbids Him rise, Alleluia!

Christ has opened Paradise, Alleluia!

Stanza 3:

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!

Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!

Dying once He all doth save, Alleluia!

Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Stanza 4:

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!

Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!

Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!

Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Stanza 5:

Hail the Lord of earth and heaven, Alleluia!

Praise to Thee by both be given, Alleluia!

Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia!

Hail the Resurrection, thou, Alleluia!

Stanza 6:

King of glory, soul of bliss, Alleluia!

Everlasing life is this, Alleluia!

Thee to know, Thy power to prove, Alleluia!

Thus to sing, and thus to love, Alleluia!
