I don't mind it. When out, I can enjoy people, but I also like solitude. I feel it allows us to have an inner quietness that helps us to sense a closeness with the Lord more. This is a precious thing to me. 6

More often than not solitude is how I recharge. I find that I often end up thanking God for random things more often when I've had a few days or weeks to myself. That's the most consistent thing I notice about it. 1

This is a precious thing to me. Shalom Debp, Me too! It's weird because sometimes I think I shouldn't enjoy it that much, but I really don't mind. The Lord separated Himself from the crowds and even the disciples many times for solitude. I think the silence and peace enables us to converse with Spirit without distraction or any stimulus to derail our thoughts. In fact I would prescribe a bit of regular solitude to anyone who wants to peaceful mind in this busy, distracting world. A little too much. More because i'm really not big on people. I hope to become more loving, though. I just need to get out more.

I have had my fill of crowded areas, loud and distracting environments. Nothing better than talking with God and having no interruptions. 1 1

At that point it becomes isolation.

Sometimes I do miss being out and about. But solitude (even if from my bed) is so needful in a relationship with God. I think this was captured nicely in a poem which I would like to share with you. I Needed the Quiet I Needed the Quiet by Alice Hansche Mortenson, copyright 1944 I needed the quiet so He drew me aside Into the shadows where we could confide. Away from the bustle where all the day long I hurried and worried when active and strong. I needed the quiet tho at first I rebelled But gently, so gently, my cross He upheld And whispered so sweetly of spiritual things Tho weakened in body, my spirit too wings To heights never dreamed of when active and gay. He love me so greatly, He drew me away. I needed the quiet. No prison my bed, But a beautiful valley of blessings instead - A place to grow richer in Jesus to hide. I need the quiet so He drew me aside. 1 1 1

If it becomes a way of life and we deny ourselves the benefits of the company of others and we deny them the benefits of our company, then I think we might even be guilty of sin. Here I am of course, speaking to Christians. We are told not to forsake that gathering of ourselves together. We are informed that we each have some spiritual gifts, and the primary purpose of these is to build up God's church, His people. Also, since disciples are commanded to make other disciples being followers of Jesus, the Christ) and to teach them what Jesus taught - - - well, it us just very hard to do that in isolation. Perhaps our circumstance make it difficult or impossible, to be with others. That of course, is another thing, but our heart, our desire, out choice should be to be with others. God made mankind to be in fellowship with Him and with others, so that should be something we practice. I agree with what others have said, about the time of being alone with God, and to be apart from some of the pressures that being with others can evoke, but we should not use this aspect of solitude, to escape from our social awkwardness, phobias, or other things that the enemy can use to divide us or to hinder God's purposes for our lives. This can go for several kinds of fear that many of use have. If I am not mistaken, the phrase "do not fear is used 365 times in the Bible, that is often enough for once each day of the year. So, no excuses, it is not an either or thing. There is a time and a place for solitude, and a time and a place for companionship and even being with others who we may not even like, we do that for their sakes, because we are commanded to love even our enemies. It is much harder fo love enemies from a distance. Love is something we do, to benefit others. The contrast if that point is summed up with words like hate, selfishness, and pride! At least, those are my opinions! 3
