Hi George,

currently I start discussing faith with a lady who professes to be a Christian. Halleluja (it's always good to have Christians around :whistling:).

And this seems to be where the story of her faith ends ;).

As the new regulation concerning atheists requires you to ban every atheist from the main sections - we discussed this in length - I am worried about her ending up getting banned, too?

She doubts everything: the Bible, that God created the world... everything.

But she says she is a Christian...

So when is it that you start thinking about banning someone for "aggravated" atheism?

I mean before I take up debating with her I want to make sure that this doesn't lead to her getting banned from the main sections.

Regards,

Thomas

As long as it's discussed with respect for God and members  it should be fine and nobody should get banned :)

Thank you Angels! A very good approach!

But this time, the lady I was going to dicuss with, the one having doubts, was the one getting insulted. We both certainly agree that insulting is disrespectful. A moderator stepped in... but the attacker didn't get banned.

Are you telling me if the doubter makes a mistake being disrespectful... she might get banned? Whereas posters from the believing side won't?

The last forum I was in, people insulted me as much as they ever would like, but once I made a mistake according to the moderator, I got banned from posting at that site. Forever. That's why I'm here now posting my apologetics on this wonderful Worthy board. So God did bless even that )

However, I still know what it means to be treated as second class.

So, this time, I would like to make sure beforehand that my discussion partner won't be banned for being disrespectful in case she makes a mistake?

For me, equal conditions in debating is so important. For I suppose you can't convince when there isn't equality.

Regards,

Thomas

I have been had posts removed and been banned from forums for the way I say things without being asked first to try and modify the wording. It is just the way I see/say things. Even on non-Christian type boards, like City-Data, I get insulted left and right by rude individuals but when I defend myself (nicely), my posts are removed and I get ban warnings.

I have people telling me all the time they are Christians because they "believe" in God, but that is it. Not live by Him. Not try to learn from Him. They will have sex with many partners and get abortions and do the drugs, but they are Christians because they "believe in God." Someone claiming to be a Christian but not believe in God, amazingly I not heard that one before.

Sounds like she has a lot of intellectual questions, and challenges with how the bible has been taught to her. Many churches, in essence, hide a lot of stuff the bible says, and she may be getting wise to it.

Have her read "Unseen Realm", by Dr. Michael Heiser. It may be just the thing for her.

I have found, at times, if someone is questioning God, they are seeking answers on a journey to seek Him.

I agree. I also find that often they are not questioning God or his teaching but something a church or some Christian is teaching - and it may not actually be biblical.

Seeking The 'I AM that I AM' is to relegate all that has beginning and ending moot to the search... it is naturally understood that God must place that essence within us or we will perish!

It is important for both of you to become familiar with the Terms of Service agreement you consented to when joining.  It is strictly enforced.  Many people lose privileges because they violate it.  Some don't even read it.
