So within the Godhead there is the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. Was Jesus always the Son of God, or did He become the Son of God when He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in Mary? And when the term Son of God is used is it meaning Jesus is the Son of God the Father? Also, when someone affirms that Jesus is the Son of God are they saying that Jesus is the Son of God the Father?

Edit: Just to make clear I'm aware that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are God and all three are eternal as one God, none being created.

Yes, Jesus was always the Son of God. Yes, Jesus is the Son of the Father. You are correct we have the Holy Trinity. It is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. One God but three distinct Persons.

A valid point. However, is the Greek indicating that the conception involved Mary? Or rather defined as "that holy conceived thing in your womb is of...?"

Furthermore, it does not say that it is of you (Mary) and the Holy Spirit but only of the Holy Spirit.

Your interpretation reads is as though the passage says the former rather than the latter.

I believe that conception, meaning using an egg in Mary and the spermatozoon from the Holy Ghost, took place in her uterus; in order for Christ to be All God and All Man.

Jesus is coexistent and coeternal with the Father.

Certain prophecies described in advance Jesus from Mary and Jesus rising from the dead. Don't confuse "Today I have begotten Thee (from the dead!)" with "Today you were first created".

Shalom LeeGreenForest,

The son of God is always a son of man, in the mind of the creator. There is only one God : the father.

The man Yeshoua received all powers, honorhomage (sometimes translated by an "adoration") above all the names, except his God and our God. The messiah is the power man (god), if Abraham is "father of many", Yeshoua is "father of eternity".

May the Eternal guides us.

1 Corinthians 8:6

6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.

Colossians 1:16

16 For by him all things were created, lin heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

If Jesus  was not "of' both Mary and the Holy Spirit, He could not be human, nor of the tribe of Judah, nor the seed of Abraham.  He could not fulfill the  OT promises and prophecies and He could not be redeemer of mankind.

He is fully human, and fully God.  He laid aside all of His rights and privileges as God,  to walk this earth as a man, and retake the test of obedience the first Adam failed.  He walked this earth with NO advantages over the first Adam, retook the test under the same conditions, but with many "rules" to obey, not just one.  He ministered with  NO advantage over us but one, and that is that He never possessed a fallen nature.  What He could do, any man or woman in Him can do, and even greater works.  He ministered with the power of the indwelling Spirit of God just as we are empowered to do.  Nothing more.

Quote
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”

careful, details matter.  HER seed, not  his.   Your second question is one seldom asked, and needs to be.

only one.  But there IS  a mystery to unravel here.  In the natural order, women do  not HAVE seed, they contribute eggs to the process of procreation....it's very  interesting that God prefigured His whole plan in this first reference to redemption, and did so in a way  satan couldn't figure  out.....
