Let's look at the list of the people who were ANOINTED because prophets were ordered to ANOINT them, and therefore This Supreme WORD was applied in their case as a verb. They are: Aaron, Saul, David, Jeroboam, ELISHA, JEHU, AZAIL. Aaron: 2 sons, one of them was his firstborn. Leviticus Chapter 10. After they died, ANOINTMENT is specifically mentioned. Saul: his righteous son dies with him. And pay special attention to the meaning of the son's name - BenYamin. David: 3 times he is punished for his sin by death of his son. 1st time is the newborn. 2nd time AvShalom kills Amnon. Now, in order not to sin, I want to clearly state that comparing sinful human deeds, their behaviors and everything about them to the SUPREME GIFT GIVEN to us in The New Testement is in no way acceptable. By writing all this I would like to give money to the exchangers -MATTHEW 25:27. I want to PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Humbly, I would like to talk about THE SUPREME MIRACLE that I was BLESSED with noticing. Third time AvShalom himself is killed. Jeroboam: 1st Kings 14:1-18 In order not to sin i must add something here: everyone mentioned above and below are sinners, and Psalms 62:9! Some of those who died did so for their own sins, while some of them died because of their fathers'/parents' sins. Or they were about to die for those sins. The firstborn children in Egypt died exactly in the same manner - for their sins or for the sins of their fathers/parents. In fact everyone of us deserves to die and/or see our children/loved ones die! But because of THE ABSOLUTELY SUPERIOR MERCY!!!!!!!!!!! our BLESSED SAVIOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIED for our sins! Now the last 3 people on the list: - What do all of them have in common? First: they are all mentioned in 1st Kings 19:15-16. They are to be MIRACULOUSLY ANOINTED! MIRACULOUSLY because that is to be done as a result of ORDERS GIVEN to prophets. WORD ANOINT IS USED as a verb. Second: the number 42: ELISHA: 2nd Kings 2:24, AZAIL: 2nd Kings 8:8-9 (42 gifts brought to the meeting: 40 gifts carried by camels, 1 in AZAIL's hand, and one brought by ELISHA - the information about THE ANOINTMENT), JEHU: 2nd Kings 10:14. Brothers and sisters, what is 42? MATHEW 1! 3 groups of 14 generations! 42 generations! It's taking us back to Abraham. What did Abraham do? He got ready to sacrifice Isaac! Third: in all 3 cases there is a mention of sons', young men/boys, or children's death. In AZAIL's case it is found in 2nd Kings 8:12 - right after The Verses 8-9! In JEHU's case there is the death of 70 Ahav's sons, immediately precedes The Verses 12-14! In the case of ELISHA it is again 2nd Kings 2:24. The word used here, in This Verse is yeladim - boys. The word used in 2:23 is nearim - youths. That implies that they were in their teen years. Were they some violent underaged criminals? Were their parents responsible for killing the prophets that ELIJAH was bereived about in 1st Kings 19? The same approach must be used and same questions must be asked when we are dealing with 2nd Kings 10:12-14! THE LORD!!!!!!!!!! IS MERCIFUL AND JUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Summary: the 7 people that were MIRACULOUSLY ANOINTED by prophets. The first 4 of them lost their sons in a way that stands out. The last 3 had 42 associated with them right at the time when death of children is mentioned. 42 is the number of generations between Abraham and our BLESSED SAVIOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were part of a chain preparing for the final annointed one who completed everything. They are important in the same way that we are important, we like them have roles and tasks to live out. I think some clarification would be helpful. What are you meaning? That sinful people need to be dealt with in the way Elisha and Jehu did? Jehu was not a better person than Ahab. He was sinful like all mankind. Even though he had did as the Lord wanted where Ahab and Jezebel were concerned. Jehu, also worshiped idols and taught all Israel to do the same. The kings of Israel and Judah as well as the nation of Israel as a whole; had shown that they were NOT better than the nations around them. What they had shown was that ALL men are alike. All have sinned. There is none that is righteous. I find it very disheartening to hear Christians wishing and praying ill will for unbelievers. It certainly seems they have forgotten that they too were once sinners and in need of God's forgiveness. We ALL have sinned. NONE of us deserve God's forgiveness. And since God has forgiven us for our tremendous debt. God paid our debt himself because we could never pay what we owe. As scripture says; it is not the well who need a doctor, but the sick. Jesus came and died on the cross for sinners not for the sinless! Should we not also extend the same mercy to others instead of demanding for God to dole out judgment? The theme and message throughout the Old Testament has always been a call for sinners to turn from the road they were traveling (repentance) God always gave wicked leaders the opportunity to repent because God desires that all be reconciled back to him, not death. My brother, I think I'm trying to say exactly what you are trying to say! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let us look at Luke 13 - at the first part of the BLESSED Chapter. 13:1 - the worshipers got killed by Pilate, who was a pagan. Let's read further. Let's look at The Verses 3 and 5 of This BLESSED Chapter. We all must repent!!!! Now, let's go to The BLESSED Proverb of the widow and the judge. Luke 18:7 - we must constantly cry out and repent!!!! Constantly, constantly, constantly, constantly, always, always, non-stop keep on crying out!!!! Remember Lamentations 3:37-39!!!! Remember Romans 11:19-21!!!! Now, let's look at The Chapter 1st Samuel 22: who's fault is that - the death of the priests, their wifes and their children? Is it Saul's fault - Verse 16? Is it Doeg's fault - Verse 18? Maybe it is David's fault - Verse 22? Or maybe we need to look back at 1st Samuel 2:27-36 and 3:11-14? Ofcourse!!!! We need to look at The 2nd and at The 3rd Chapters!!!! We need to realize THE JOYFUL NEWS of Philippians 2:13!!!!!!!!!!!! And we need to cry out every night and every day and repent for our sins as well as those of our fathers!!!! NEHEMIAH 9:2!!!!!!!!!!!
