I watch local news and usually the world news each day....enough to be kept informed about what's going on.   I also watch a little of NHK, the Japanese station....they have good coverage of Asia and Europe, some U.S. news, too.

Once I mentioned something important to a neighbor....it was about the boys trapped in the cave in Thailand.   They were already trapped a long time and people around the world were all desperately trying to rescue them.   My neighbor looked at me blankly.... didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about.  Now she is Hispanic but even the Spanish stations here covered that story.

Sometimes something might happen in the neighborhood that you need to know about, too, for your safety....so it's good to watch some news, I think.

i  think world events are fascinating, esp vis a vis North Korea and China and Russia. I don't like (and I mean REALLY don't like) people who always relate everything  they hear back to "end times stuff" but you can't help wondering about Armageddon and stuff..

I watch a lot of news (not lib news or what some call fake news, although I often wonder if we get the "whole story" anywhere)

But I am getting burnt out on doing this because it seems it is always about celebrities and famous people and etc... It is only about everyday people when there is a natural disaster or something like that.

So I am wondering how much news you people watch, if any? I used to not watch any but a few yrs ago, I began to watch a lot because I had some work-related issues and was not able to work as much as I wanted and so.. had time on my hands. I am not sure I have as much time anymore but in any case... just want to hear from others, esp those who have been more/less closely following current events..

A born again person should , as compared to watching........read 90% more.

A born again person (In the USA) should not watch any News program that supports democratic socialism.

This would be : CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC.

Start there, and eliminate other new programs that are against border security, owning a hand gun, and support gay marriage.

That would be all of them, with the exception of FOXX< and this one is difficult to watch, simply because its so badly organized and presented.

Do yourself a favor and make God happy.   Watch less TV, Much MUCH less, and read more of Paul's epistles,  and listen to more uplifting worship and praise music.

so what do you think of Fox?

Fox news is as far right as CNN is as far left. Both are full of opinions. I can't hack either of them. But then again I can't handle a lot of news sites because they are more opinion than fact. So I have to take them with a grain of salt and pick out what is actual fact and not what the new sources wants you to side with.

I used to like to be informed and go on the news on-line. It has gotten so bad that I rarely go on the news anymore. I figure God has it so I will just put it aside.

While this a noble answer it isn't quite the response we should give as Christians. We should care about what is going on because we as Christians should be informed of what is going on around us. God never asked us to walk around blindly to the world. He did say not to conform to the world but we are still in this world. We are called to be good citizens. How can I be a good citizen if I don't even know what is going on as a citizen?

I used to think this way too until one day I realized that as a Christian I still can play a part in world events. Yes God will ultimately win but in the meantime we also can't just take the easy road and ignore what is going on around us.

I don't have regular tv. I have Youtube.  I watch PBS Newshour  because they live stream it on Youtube.  I don't watch it every night. More like every other night.  Other then that I will watch news clips from different News sites what ever catches my attention.  I don't get my News from just one station. I am kind of all over the place.  Anyway that is what I do.

I appreciate the gist of what your saying, Debp, but my life, my family, work/business(s), church, friends etc has a greater priority of my time.
I am too affected emotionally, listening to the vile lies from the politically corrupt and others,
those who seek to destroy the basis of what I believe that was God's plan for man that He has set in place, the family.
I think it's my age. (Or my blood pressure:)
I've heard it said many times and believe it true,
that we all have to pick our own battles.
My wife and I were very involved for many years in a grass roots group when home schooling all our kids, that was
part of a nationwide network of  constituents monitoring legislation in DC.
This was before internet. We got the word out, phones and mail, and often shut down the phones in Washington's political beehive. And we were notorious up there.   Involved.
But trying to get local churches and members or friends involved back then was fruitless. Most just didn't want to know. They would then be held accountable.
I passed the torch to my now adult children, and enjoy my family and friends in these 'golden' years. And plant a few seeds, in the local.
In stead of knowing about all the tragedies world wide, I would rather help out with local problems, and neighbors, that I can actually do something about.
I do appreciate hearing from you though about the interesting things you bring up.
Those on this forum, like yourself, keep me googling up new "info" I've never heard of.
A much better source, amongst believers, while monitoring ourselves.
 ps
Did the boys trapped in the cave in Thailand survive?

Do you watch TV7 Israel News and Dina Amelia Kalmeta on you tube?  Those are the only two I have found worth watching.  Not sure if there are any others.

New for the most part is gossip.  From the 50s till now, every story in which I knew and even witnessed the solid facts was completely misrepresented.

We shouldn't believe gossip and shouldn't spread gossip.  On the other hand, we shouldn't be totally ignorant of current events.  So I don't believe more than 50% or often less of it.

I have restricted my news watching to 8:00 P.M. every night,  I don't like watching the news in the daytime,  there are some news shows that I do watch though :)
