How do you know you're on the narrow path?

I've been reading the parable Jesus gave about entering through the narrow gate.

What are some ways you can know you're on that path?

What does a life on the narrow path look like?

Life on  the narrow pathway is awesome, less one looks left, right, or back. So just don't look left, right, nor back, less one thinks think they  might enjoy the nickname Salty.

The narrow path is taken often in much haste at the command heard from the Holy Spirit at the most inopportune of times. The journey is often a quick pace double step into the unknown in faith and not by sight, except that the spirit knows it is to lead the flesh  to where it is commanded to be going.

It is often scary, breath taking, painful to the limbs and the mind, yet there is a determination to be on the way. Straight is the path, right through the bumps, holes, and brambles, straight through as led by God the Holy Spirit and confirmed by the word of God the Bible. For the word that is known comes to mind as application of it is made within each step forward on the path.  It is the path least traveled. So don't expect many if any comfort stations, and don't look back at all.  Well except perhaps to say prayers of thanks to God for what lies ahead by comparison to what was left behind.

The pathway experience might be much likened to the book of Job, but likely without the attack of  boils, though don't count on it.

The narrow pathway experience is awesome, but not necessarily an easy street like one, more likely it is like keeping ahead of the steam rollers just behind that are smoothing out the easier but corrupt broad expressway to eternal destruction.

It isn't easy, but what a thrill it is!

Yeshua said: "if you love me, keep my commandments". What commandments is Yeshua talking about?

John 14:15 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commands;

THe commandments of Christ, to love as He loved, laying His life down for us, and His commandment is life, so we love the life that is in the ones we lay our life down for..

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

This is what is told, the fiery trial, Christs sufferings,
suffer the loss of all things,
suffer for righteousness sake suffering terror,
suffer reproach,
suffer defrauded,
Apostle Paul suffered shipwreck,
suffer persecution,
fellowship of Christs sufferings,
sufferings in our body,
suffer tribulation,
suffer trouble, as Apostle Paul even to bonds,
as Our Lord Jesus Christ for the suffering of death..

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

1 Peter 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

Philippians 1:28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

1 Corinthians 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

2 Corinthians 11:25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

Galatians 5:11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Colossians 1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:

1 Thessalonians 3:4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

2 Timothy 2:9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Thinking about this narrow path a bit more I see a Judge, Gideon by name, who had been  a cowering man hiding from the Wolf and the Raven and the fierce armies they commanded that raided the land. Gideon, down in the wine press trying to threash wheat there , instead of being up in the breezes of the threashing place  because he is too scared of the enemy's fierceness to be seen is selected by God, told he will have assurance and that he is to lead, to meet and to defeat the 135000 men armies that dominate the fearful people.

Eventually through the walk on the narrow pathway Gideon comes to a point of trusting God and denying self altogether, a place where he takes no credit even for his own plan. He leds a preposterous attack  with his plan, God honors the plan, in a manner that shows He is sovereign not any man.

The pathway is narrow and it feels like it is very humbling with place only for God's steps, that no credit is to be shared with any man, not any man of God's word nor of God's deeds, not with self even, just God alone.

And that is where the narrow path runs it's course, with each saint running it as though he is in a race and must win, but not with any personal glory even in  receiving the prize of the winner. All glory is only to God and God alone. That is the narrow path each servant  runs upon. And the garland that may be won is to be placed at the feet of Jesus, to His praise alone.

Yes we can review the testimony for Gideon.

It was the time every man in Israel was in doubt. Gideon was in total doubt to, which was a lot for him to take, he was a mighty man of valour. He could not believe that God would be with him, as Moses doubted too. Gideon demanded a sign, even two miracles, but the narrow path is better than this, we do not need to see signs and miracles to believe, it is blessed to have not seen but believed..

John 4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

Numbers 14:11 And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Judges 6:12 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
14 And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
15 And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.
16 And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
17 And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.

Exodus 3:11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

Exodus 4:10 And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
14 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

As for the reason for the defeat of Israels enemies, because the Lord took control and even gave a dream to a Midinaite, confirming how even in to their minds the Lord is about to destroy them all. This was the sword of the Lord with the trumpets, even the same as the walls of Jericho FELL DOWN..

Joshua 6:20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

Hebrews 11:30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

Judges 7:12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

Judges 7:18 When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon.

These were not sufficient in faith, not the real narrow path, because as told..

Hebrews 11:32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

Hebrews 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

You will know when you hate what once loved and love what you once hated. You don't hang with the old crowed anymore and you will be ridiculed and rejected  by those who once liked you when you were doing all the ungodly things they do and consider normal life.

1 Peter 4:12-19

1 Peter 4:12-19 King James Version (KJV)

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Yet that tells us the righteous are scarcely saved, so the narrow path tells these on it, they have no real idea, and especially as all the exalted ones say they are on the right path, it can never be humility then, to repeat their same message and lift up in pride too, the narrow path is not for anyone who can talk about it, it hurts them too much, and, as many are on the wide 1 to destruction, they never even saw the narrow one, never found it, never even heard any details of it

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Matthew 7:15 King James Version (KJV)

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

The law was up until John, since that time the Kingdom of Heaven is preached, and that is the law magnified and made hounrable and fulfilled..

Isaiah 42:21 The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

Matthew 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Matthew 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Matthew 5:31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Matthew 5:33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne
37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Matthew 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 15:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

The law and the prophets is to do to others as we would have them do to us, we have this knowledge now..
Luke 1:77To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

God provided this hidden way so that those who are the greatest among women, are not great enough yet, otherwise we wold not have honour for Christ giving His life and blood for us to give us all His Holy Spirit. and Christ in us.

Hebrews 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

John needed to be baptised too, we see, otherwise he would be the value of nothing, as we all are without Christ in us.. We receive the same baptism as of Christ, as He is the one who anoints us. Baptism does save us, it is the answer of a good conscience, and as I said, John the baptist did not haved that until Christ died and rose again..

Matthew 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

Matthew 20:23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

John 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
