I have a question. Would you as a Christian have an issue working at a Liquor store. Selling Alcohol and smokes to people?   Thoughts?

Working at a liquor store? Yes I would be unable to work there. But more because of how alcohol nearly destroyed my husbands family.  The sole purpose of that is to sell alcohol.

At a grocery store that also sold alcohol? Probably not an issue with me.

I was desperate for a job, so I worked at a convenience store (i.e. Circle K, 7-11, etc.) that also sold beer but no liquor. Didn't have an issue with it for the most part - except for the guys coming in at 6am and buying beer. These were the obviously homeless guys that slept in the field last night types. That made me feel like a drug dealer selling to junkies (I'm also a druggie that Jesus cleaned up) so I quit. The vast majority of folks were construction workers grabbing a few beers for the crew after work and not an issue for me.

Would I do the same thing now? No. There's other was for me to generate income that don't require selling alcohol.

Caffeine, alcohol and nicotine are all drugs. If you work at a grocery store in the state I live in they sell alcohol. And many other stores as well such as Walgreen's. You also would not want to work at a Starbucks because caffeine is a drug.

How desperate are you for work?

If that is the only job then take it, if there is a choice go for the other option.

It's as Walla said, guys buying beer etc after work is one thing but those living in a semi perminent state of drunkeness another.

Depends on what beliefs I would have biblically on the subject.

questions: would it in any way cause you to be tempted?

Would you be prevent from attending church?

Would it cause someone you know, a child, a teen, an alcoholic or a new believer, to stumble by the    appearance that you might condone using these things?

If the answer is yes, don't do it.  If no, then it might be a marvelous opportunity to pray with people or for people who come there, and to testify about how the Lord Jesus Christ can set us free from sin and addiction.

What about those who work in the distilleries ,the beer manufacturers , the truck drivers that deliver Demon rum, the gasoline pump worker who put gasoline in the trucks. The mechanic that works on the truck  or the guy that sold the tools to the mechanic that fixes the sin- spreading trucks.Who provides the steel that make the tools that enable the mechanic  to fix the trucks that haul the beer that wind up on the shelves.......to be continued......
