He is Armenian Orthodox. My neighbor is not exactly a scolar, a historian, of a theologian, in fact he got a lots of facts wrong. However, in looking into it, I discovered that the case can be made surely, that Armenia, was the first state (meaning a independant, sovereign, political entity in the geographic sense) to become officially Christian. In other words though less precise, we might say that it was the first nation, to adopt Christianity, as it's official state religion. So, although Christianity was not born in Armenia, it certainly had an ancient impact, on the spread and acceptance of Christianity as a legitimate religion in the view of the greater world. 1 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
