The Arrogance of Authority

A DEA officer stopped at a ranch in Texas , and talked with an old rancher.
He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs."
The rancher said, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there.....", as he pointed out the location.

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, " Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me !"
Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher.
"See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land !!
No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear......do you understand ?!!"

The rancher nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by the rancher's big Santa Gertrudis bull......

With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified.
The rancher threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of his lungs.....

"Your badge, show him your BADGE........ ! !"

:24:

good story and punchline

Oh, that's soooo funny!   Thanks!

Btw, when my mom was a child, she got chased by a bull!   Her mom had sent her over a fence to pick some mushrooms!   They had no idea a bull was in that pasture.   Thank God, she ran like crazy and made it back over the fence.   But she has a long scar from the fence during her escape.

Years ago at the County Fair, my mother and I were looking at the livestock.   All of a sudden we saw a guy walking right behind us leading a gigantic, very tall bull by a nose ring!   Boy, did we put on some speed and get out of there!   I guess the guy got a laugh from us but he didn't show it.

Bropro... you OP made me laugh out loud!  :24:

I think it's good to have a healthy respect for cows.  They are very big... and heavy.  But I think for the most part, they are very docile and can be really funny to watch

Yes, funny to watch from a very long distance.:emot-nod:

We run our family dairy farm with about 200+ cows.  If I were to stand in the middle of the barn yard or resting against a fence or gate during a quiet time of the day, within minutes there could be up to a dozen cows stopping by to see what I'm doing.  They can be relatively curious animals, even the bulls.

Speaking of bulls, the Black Angus bulls are extremely gentle and friendly (although a person has to ALWAYS be on guard when with them in a group of cattle). They are much nicer than the common Holstein (black & white).
