Hi I was doing a lot of research last night on the holy ghost anyways, out of nowhere I started smelling this sweet smell kind of like bread or corn bread it was pretty late at night and I was just wondering if maybe it was God trying to tell me something or if this was a way of him manifesting himself to me?

Shalom Rivers,

Interesting question.

I have not heard of that manifestation before to be honest.  That said, can we really limit how the Father reveals His presence to each individual?

I wouldn't put too much on it for now and observe if it is a common occurrence with your studies, then there MIGHT be something in it.

By the way, it's better to use the term Holy Spirit, rather than Holy Ghost.  I know that's how it appears in some English translations but it's not an accurate portrayal of the original and it implies a "disembodied phantom of someone who has died".  Whilst you might understand the truth of the matter, it may not help others to understand if they hear this - so it is good to drop that habit.

Love & Shalom

My answer to this is YES.  I call it the fragrance of heaven. I have smelled it before. The air around me becomes cool and clean, very refreshing.  I have smelled something similar to vanilla and once the smell of cinnamon.  It hasn't happened as much as I would like, but it does happen.

footnote:  the "a" is an inaccurate insertion in the text.

Yahuweh is Spirit.     Not at all related to "a spirit", as Yahuweh has no limit, no measurements, no end, no beginning,  no parts, etc .....  "a spirit" would be very limited by comparison, totally something else.

The only experience I've had like this is this: One day I was driving by a couple that was cleaning up around the cross on the side of the road marking the death of a friend. As I drove by I got such a strong odor of roses that I had to turn around and talk to them. No, they were not handling any flowers at all, but I learned the story of the guy that was killed there (turning onto a two lane highway in a quadrunner). I can't explain the smell and I've never experienced such a thing before. It came out of the blue. And it was strong.

Probably not likely.

It is best to keep personal experiences of that nature as a private source of confidence and comfort. The presence that we should be broadcasting for others to notice is the fragrance of forgiving kindness and profound humility. It is within or heart of hearts that we are to focus and fully realize the presence of God.

Probably not likely.

When I bake bread, it may be 3 a.m.,  6 a.m.,  midnight, or any other time.

Many bakeries start baking soon after midnight.

Also,  many people (with a working nose),  smell bread baking no matter what time the baker is baking bread,

even a block or two or more away.

Also,  IT IS MUCH MORE LIKELY ,  and more common by far,

to smell bread baking, than to ever realize the presence of

the Lord,   and that is more common than smelling the sweet aroma of His Presence.

Very few ever smell the sweet aroma of His Presence,

while millions of people, smell bread baking daily.

Also, btw,  when the presence of the Lord is realized by a sweet aroma,

it is not even similar to the smell of baking bread,

thus that solves the question for the op.
