Acts 4:2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

Peter and John were preaching Jesus and faith in him unto eternal life (John 20:31). They were preaching his resurrection, and how that would ensure the resurrection of believers, and the coming Davidic kingdom on earth promised to the nation of Israel (Luke 12:32). There is, however, no mention here of the cross of Christ Jesus; no mention of Jesus's sacrificial death, no mention of Jesus being delivered for our offences and raised for our justification. It is the gospel of the kingdom plus the resurrection of Christ, which is the gospel of the Circumcision, being preached (Galatians 2:7).

4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Peter is preaching the gospel of the Circumcision and the assurance of the coming Kingdom through Christ's resurrection. He is still preaching faith in the name of Jesus, that Jesus is the Son of God and the Christ. Israel had to believe on Jesus to have eternal life; it was then required that they confess him (Matthew 10:32 Romans 10:9), be baptized (Mark 16:16), and keep the statutes to enter the coming earthly Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 5:20 Matthew 5:18 Ezekiel 36:27).

4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Naming Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God was required for Jews to have eternal life. Salvation was by the name of Jesus at that time. Although verse 12 is to the Jews, it is also for us. We can also acknowledge that it is only by Jesus Christ that we have eternal life. It is through faith in Christ Jesus alone and his complete provision for our forgiveness, justification, and righteousness unto eternal life.

They preached salvation through Jesus. There is only one name that saves and only one form of salvation.

Hello,

Yeshoua-salvation is the perfect way to go to the father our creator, we need to eat his body and drink his blood.

He finished his mission on the wood and came back from the dead.

Let's become in the image of his son, our brother, through the holy breath of God :

Romans 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

May the Eternal guides us.

You mentioned Mark 16:16, which says...

Mark 16:16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."

And, I agree with that. Since this thread is about His Name, one must ask, "so why does today's church baptize in the name of Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and NOT the name of Jesus? Everywhere a baptism is actually taking place, it is having the name of Jesus pronounced over them.

Matthew 28:19 is a command of what to DO not what to repeat verbatim. And, further, it is NOT an actual baptism taking place.

So, we ask ourselves, Why does not the church FULFILL the command as seen in the book of Acts?

The answer is addressed in my thread titled, "One True Church"...

Thank you for your post,

God bless!

Hello

The church, the body of Christ is not commanded or instructed to be baptized in water, this was for Israel (Acts 2:38).

Are you saying Paul did not mean water baptism in his writings to the church?

God bless!

I'm sorry, but the baptism is with water. Let's take a close look at this verse, ok?

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized(G907) into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Strong's Definition:

G907
βαπτίζω
baptizō
bap-tid'-zo
From a derivative of G911; to make whelmed (that is, fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: - baptist, baptize, wash.

Thayer Definition:

G907
βαπτίζω
baptizō

1) to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk)
2) to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one’s self, bathe
3) to overwhelm

I hope this will help,
God bless!

if we look further, to verse 39, we see it is for us ALL...

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

God is still calling us,
God bless!
