How do you deal with inappropriate content on the internet? My kids started asking me if they could play computer games but I'm afraid of all bad content witch they could find on the internet. And I do not have time to control them all the time and watch what they are doing there.

Most antivirus systems will let you enter the age and sex of children and permit you to limit access to known sites. eg, for a 12 year old girl it will stop access to porn sites, violent games etc etc You can also set time limits for how l;ong they can access the internet.

This covers age stats. 3 hours ago, Who me said: Who ever is the administrator for your pc needs to sort this out. If you get administrator permission notifications, accept the choice to proceed. I do all the time. Edited June 20, 2019 by BeauJangles

It will stop a lot but if someone sends an inappropriate image or comment in email or instant messages that's going to make its way through. Chat programs are another weakness of filters, and then there's the odd instance of normally kid friendly websites getting hacked or things like wiki sabotage. I'd personally wait until you felt like they were mature enough to make good decisions, and even then I'd still keep the filter.

Hi, May I suggest the potential of serious problems is far more significant that just content being inappropriate? I suggest that it is the actual development of hand eye coordination and physical motor skills that may get affected in large numbers of today's children, because of the use of computing devices as toys for kids and as baby sitting aids by parents. Parents are having serious issues, behavior issues, with their kids. The kids are having serious trouble just learning to tie their own shoes. Specialists of varying ability and theories are working hard to help overcome the very disruptive behavior issues, many do reach a conclusion that the use of computers and the playing of games on a flat screen regardless of the content is affecting adversely the development of children. "Brain Balance" is one program center that does some pretty excellent work!!! and addresses the subject of "computers" or computing toys and games, and kids use of them. Our family has had personal experience with the problems and with the program of correction and aid to a child's need of help. It is a widespread problem. I worked at a school that tried to handle it, public school stend to not have any programs to help and just end up putting all the troubled kids together in one school. It is quite scary to see it hit home, but after much ard two years hard effort and a ton of money spent see the outstanding result. Praise God and praise God for parents with the resolve to not cave into the whims of merchants and their own kid's desire to follow the crowd. The parade of the crowd is headed in the wrong direction.. p.s. -Might take a look at the book Disconnected Kids.

Also your television.
