First Person: God the Father Second Person: God the Son (Jesus) Third Person: God the Holy Spirit When Jesus is referred to as the Son of God it means Jesus is the Son of God the Father and the second person of the Trinity, correct? It may be simplistic since there is really no way a human mind can properly assimilate this. I tend to remember that the Lord God likes 'threes' and it can be observed all around us. So I think that there are three distinct functional Persons of the God-Head. Just remember that beings we refer to as angels are God's heavenly spirits. I've been on websites where there are huge debates about what the Trinity is. I have been insulted about my own belief, but not on this website. I do believe my understanding is correct, though, and here it is: God is the Father. He decided he needed to come to earth as a human being, so he did so as Jesus Christ. Interesting question, Lee. Our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus, have a relationship that far exceeds the comprehension of that of earthly fathers and sons. One similarity though. Abraham was willing to give up his only true son, as did our Heavenly Father also did Jesus. Just a note on comparatives. Abraham was requested of the Lord to sacrifice Isaac unto God. Abraham was willing, and the Lord was testing him for trust and obedience. Perhaps more so in obedience. Our Heavenly Father sent His Son as a sacrifice for us, and Jesus willingly gave Himself for our cause, to save our souls and give unto us eternal life.
