Lord is someone with authority, control and power over others. It means that Jesus is God. Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth.

In a general sense a person who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler.

In confessing Jesus as Lord one is agreeing to do everything Jesus tells us to do...

Hi Lee,

Jesus has many titles and His Lordship means that He is the supreme administrator over all, - Lord of lords.

So not only is Jesus the sovereign ruler, (King) over all, He is the supreme administrator. Often these offices are by separate people, but Jesus is King of kings, and Lord of lords.

Marilyn.

Hi LeeGreenForest,

The man Yeshua became the lord and the anointed one because the only God, the father, gave him authorities after his wonderful work.

Acts 2:36  Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ

Yeshua is Lord of all from the beginning. It was by His hand all was created. He is Lord of the Sabbath, so you'd better have a good story to tell Him if you do not observe the Sabbath and keep it Holy.

Because He is and was Lord of all, He came to earth as a man to banish and remove forever the Authority given to the Principalities and Powers (God's spirit helpers that were supposed to administer the nations. Ps 82 and Deut. 32). These of course went their own way and subjugated the nation and set themselves up to be worshipped. They caused humans to commit sacrifice of babies and all kinds of detestable things like that. The pagan systems and pantheons resulted from these wayward spirits. "They will die like men" says the Lord High God.

Yeshua came to Save Humans, to regather those scattered at Babel and to reverse the spirit incursion that created Nephilim and their off-springs etc. Total world Redemption was accomplished at the cross of Yeshua. Thus we can put all things under our feet when we believe on Him. We ARE the righteousness of God in Christ. So we should act like it and not fear their (very active) smoke and mirrors!!

Jesus is God, not a mere person only. We are to obey God, and to obey God to be saved, we must trust Jesus as individuals for salvation, not our behavior and good deeds.

Jesus is Lord of my life, because "God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9–11).

I believe Jesus is God in flesh. God is just, merciful, all-knowing, all powerful, and motivated only by love. I think he qualifies himself as our Lord, and that is what he is.
