Sin literally means missing the mark.  (dictionary can clarify)

We all miss the mark, hence Jesus' free gift. (All have sinned and come short of the glory of God).

Still can you put up the verse and the word study? That shows that is what it says and find 2 or 3 other verses to confirm his Word with 2 or 3 witnesses? I think you can, I would do it, But I'm getting ready to leave the country tomorrow.

1 John 3:4 = "Everyone who practices sin is also practicing lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness."

1 John 5:17[a] = "All unrighteousness is sin."

I know this is only opinion, but another way to see sin is when you're doing something, "you're doing it wrong."

And when you are trying to be good so you can go do heaven, "you're doing it wrong". You're sinning. In fact, I see that as the BIG sin in Hebrews 12:1 - "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. I don't recall such a thing ever spoke of in the Holy scriptures.

Sin is measured by the hardness of the heart.

The wages of sin is paid to a slave of sin.

Ya'akov/James 1;5

A Google search of the hebrew word for transgression will give 8 hebrew words to study.

It speaks of it all the time. I don't know which specific part of my post you are focusing on.

Sin is literally and archery term meaning to miss the mark.  It is Greek and not Hebrew.  From Word Study Dictionary of New Testament Words by Spiros Zodihates

G264

ἁμαρτάνω

hamartánō; fut. hamartḗsō, aor. hēmártēsa; 2d aor. hḗmarton. To sin, to miss a mark on the way, not to hit the mark. One who keeps missing the mark in his relationship to God is hamartōlós (G268), sinner.

(I) To err, swerve from the truth, go wrong, used in an absolute sense in 1Co 15:34, meaning to beware lest one be drawn into errors pertaining to faith, of which the Apostle is speaking (Tit 3:11).

(II) To err in action, in respect to a prescribed law, i.e., to commit errors, to do wrong, sin.

(A) Generally, to sin, spoken of any sin, used in an absolute sense (Mat 27:4; Joh 5:14; Joh 8:11; Joh 9:2-3; Rom 2:12; Rom 3:23; Rom 5:12, Rom 5:14, Rom 5:16; Rom 6:15; 1Co 7:28, 1Co 7:36; Eph 4:26; 1Ti 5:20; Heb 3:17; Heb 10:26; 1Pe 2:20; 2Pe 2:4; 1Jn 1:10; 1Jn 2:1; 1Jn 3:6, 1Jn 3:8-9; 1Jn 5:16, 1Jn 5:18. In 1Jn 5:16, to sin a sin. Sept.: Exo 32:30; Lev 4:14, Lev 4:23, Lev 4:28).

(B) With eis (G1519), unto, with the acc. to sin against anyone, to offend, wrong (Mat 18:15, Mat 18:21; Luk 15:18, Luk 15:21; Luk 17:3-4; Act 25:8; 1Co 6:18; 1Co 8:12; Sept.: Gen 20:6, Gen 20:9; Gen 43:9; 1Sa 2:25).

(C) To "sin before someone" means to do evil in the sight of anyone, to sin against, to wrong (Luk 15:21; Sept.: Gen 39:9; Deu 1:41; Deu 20:18; 1Sa 7:6; 1Sa 12:23; 1Sa 14:33-34). See hamartía(G266), sin, which has many syn. listed; hamártēma(G265), an individual deed or sin; anamártētos (G361), without sin; proamartánō(G4258), to sin previously.

Deriv.: amártēma (G265), sin; hamartía (G266), sin, sinful; hamartōlós (G268), a sinner; anamártētos (G361), without sin; proamartánō (G4258), to sin previously.

I'll comment and you can read the bible verses I'm commenting on to see if I'm accurate.

Adam and Eve questioned the accuracy of what God had said, they examined and thought about disobying God.

Having questioned and thought about it, they wanted to do what God had said not to do.

They did it.

The above outlines how eveyone ends up sinning.

How they respond is also seen.

They realised they'd done wrong and reacted to deal not with the wrong but with part of the consquence. They didn't confess but made coverings.

Then they tried to hide from God. When confronted again they didn't repent but passed the blame.

Adam blaimed eve the woman you God made for me.

We all do this.
