i'm totally convinced the lake of fire and the "outer darkness" are two very different things.  A good deep dive into studying "eternal judgement" one of the six MILK topics described in Hebrews 6 makes that conclusion inevitable ..IMO :)

Kinda like many just assume failing to enter the Kingdom is equal to being consigned to the lake of fire  :) terribly flawed assumption :)

Interesting information here, but I am lost at "six MILK topics." I just read Hebrews 6, and I googled that phrase. I'm still lost.

Matthew 25. Hell has been prepared for the devil and his angels. Those who reject Jesus will be cast into outer darkness. Matthew 25:41. I cannot conceive of them both as hell. They are to me 2 specific places. Outer darkness .. how can one see or be seen? No light..cold? No love, how horrible a place to be. Hell.. magma...torment where the heat is unimaginable...one place? No.

Could a “ black hole” be outer darkness?

What I mean to refer to is found in the  first three verses of Hebrews 6.  But the last few verses of Chapter  five set up the context...

Quote
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.  For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.  But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Just my paraphrase here but Paul seems to be saying "C'mon guys, nothing wrong  with being an infant and growing on milk, but there aught to come a day when we have grown to  tolerate solid food...and you're  over age."

And Chapter 6 is where he  begins identifying exactly what those first principles (milk) are.  And encourages us to DRINK IT....get our foundation established  so bear the weight  of the building He desires  us   to be ...

Quote
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

And this we will do if God permits.

Those six "topics" are identified clearly as milk.....fundamental (which is exactly the same as saying "foundational").  Principles necessary for us to be ESTABLISHED in before we can even dream of thinking ourselves mature.

1. repentance from dead WORKS

2. faith toward God

3. baptism(s!)  (it's plural :) )

4. laying  on of  hands

5. resurrection of the dead

6. eternal  judgement

i elaborated on this a bit  tying in some of  the Biblical explanations  of what the foundation is if you're interested. (long post with  a different  focus but  Hebrews  6 got some time if you scroll about half way  down  it is item #4 in the list)

@Jostler: Oh. I got you now. I started on the thread you linked (the length and research required gives me a lot of brain food!).

From what I recall of the parable of the wedding feast where a person is found without a proper garment.

They are escorted to the outer darkness, all the while gnawing and gnashing. This is a reminder to me of a finality similar to ashes being removed. Flesh will not inherit the kingdom.

As for the soul of such a person. Utter destruction just as the flesh had been destroyed in fire.

Only those with the garments washed in the blood of the Lamb walking with a baptism of Fire like danyl and his companions had will remain.

Blessings Always

Had the "speechless" man, who presumed too much and sat at the head table, been humble and taken the lower station among the guests at the wedding feast (and listened to Jesus' words to take the lower place when you enter a room) he would not have been rejected but would have lived among the nations of "they which are saved." He could have enjoyed the wedding even if he was not in the wedding party.

Pride always goes before a fall.

So then on judgment day...if we are offered a doorway to either the bride or the guests...we would be wise to go in with the guests. God is all knowing and if we are slated to be in the Bride He will surely come and get us. Personal ambition has no place in the kingdom of God. There is no being left out of things because we missed our opportunity on that day. The time to rectify any missed opportunity is to seek the Lord now.

Seek Him now while we still can.
