Loving Jesus enough to obey Him ensures salvation

Recommended Posts

“And we know that God causes everything to work together
for the good of those who love God and are called
according to his purpose for them.” (
Romans 8:28)
These were predestined, called, justified, and glorified (8:29-30).

Those who truly love God obey Him by resisting temptations to sin!

“God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation.
Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God
has promised to those who love Him.” (
James 1:12)
Believers who endure temptation:
● love God
● chose to be obedient to Jesus (see below)
● will receive the crown of (eternal) life

“Temptation comes from our own desires,
which entice us and drag us away.
These desires give birth to sinful actions.
And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
So, don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters.” (
James 1:14-16)
Believers who do NOT endure temptation:
● will fall into habitual sin
● will receive spiritual (eternal) death …
UNLESS they sincerely repent (stop their habitual sinning).

Those who really love Jesus obey Him
“Those who accept My commandments and obey them
are the ones who love Me.” (
John 14:21)
“All who love Me will do what I say.” (
John 14:23)
“Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me.” (
John 14:24)
“When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love” (
John 15:10)
“You are my friends, if you do what I command.” (
John 15:14)
Who gets to heaven who does not love Jesus, who is not His friend,
and who does not obey His commandments?

Slaves of sin -- OR -- slaves of obedience
“… if you present yourselves to anyone as as obedient slaves,
you are slaves of the one whom you obey,
either (slaves) of sin which leads to (eternal) death, OR
(slaves) of obedience leading too righteousness?” (
Romans 6:16)

“… anyone who obeys my teachings will never die!” (
John 8:51)

“if you want to receive eternal life,
keep the commandments.” (
Matthew 19:17)

“So, you must live as God’s obedient children.” (
1 Peter 1:14)

“Only those who fear the Lord and keep His commandments
have life with God. But there is NO (eternal) life in those
who do not keep His commandments.”

(from “The Shepherd of Hermas”, which was quoted as Scripture by early
Christian leaders such as Irenaeus, Origen, and Clement of Alexandria)

Love is the route to obedience, not the proof.  Obedience is proof you have loved.    Present  yourself to Him and obedience flows like water down hill....something so simple turned into  the bondage of willworship and willpower and standards and laws to keep....and binding those it pretends to offer freedom in an endless cycle of misery  and failure.

Blind as bats they refuse to enter the Kingdom and prevent those trying to enter.....

Quote
Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and make your boast in God,  and know His will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and truth in the law.  You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?  You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law?

For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.

You want to pimp that line you better be free from sin....not one....

"oh but my sins is jes slipups...He cool wit dat... but YOUR  sins will take your salvation and send you to hell..."

BAH!  stop it.....

You are correct.

Why do we keep adding to Yeshua's Salvation deed? Believe is what we are told to do... then the assembles pick this idea up and add and add and add... the new believer must be so overwhelmed at times as we attempt to do the Holy Spirit's job.

It is no wonder many seem to fall away - they have been PUSHED away.

Obedience proves if one is saved.

Unfortunately, you have NOT come to the realization ...

from reading the NT and being taught by the precious Holy Spirit

... that the ridiculous one little word "believe" in the NT

means so much more than intellectual belief,

or even a deep heart-felt belief-faith!

Just for starters, it must also include obedience!

True saving belief-faith includes enduring in the faith, obedience, etc.

Isnt it amazing how some things have not changed since the Lord was here.....  “ They do not enter, nor do they allow others to enter”.      “ The blind leading the blind”

I pray  the Lord will  open your eyes to what is happening in heaven.   Those words you just  typed are being repeated as evidence against you and a demand for access to your life is being  made in a legal form the Court  cannot deny.

The argument is that you believe righteousness is found in keeping the  law, which you violate.   Justice is  demanded ....and will be allowed.

Brace yourself, this is gonna sting.....

obedience WILL  usually follow....it SHOULD follow Anybody that has the indwelt Holy Spirit...it does not HAVE to...."as great and wise as obedience is- it is not an ingredient of Salvation.....thank God for that ,because the most obedient person on this planet is disobedient to a degree......a HUGE degree if one compares their obedience to the obedience of Christ....that is the level of obedience you must have if you are going to use it to justify yourself...

Those who have been saved, and as such eternally secure, go on to do what is right, not in order to be saved (which would be salvation by works), nor in order to maintain their salvation status (which would be salvation by works), but simply because it's the right thing to do as comes naturally to them due to the regenerate nature.

As it is written, "No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother." 1John 3:9,10

Thus behavior is an indicator rather than a cause of salvation.

This as opposed to the vain postulations of salvation-by-works Christians who make salvation conditioned up one's performance. I contend that such people don't believe the gospel and so no surprise that they find it unnatural to do what is right and can't conceive of the experience those born of God have where doing what is right comes naturally.
