It is only making news now because the media hates trump. This is from an article written in 2016, before trump took office ... However, an NPR analysis of data obtained through a Freedom of Information Act Request shows that hundreds of American citizens each year find themselves in a situation similar to Palma's. Those data show that from 2007 through July of last year, 693 U.S. citizens were held in local jails on federal detainers — in other words, at the request of immigration officials. Did hear on the news today that more people were under deportation orders under Obama....I was surprised they admitted that. Also, it's criminals being sought out for deportation. It’s like a gaping wound. To staunch the flow, sometimes a citizen in Dallas or wherever may be detained. Life is hard. If we close the border these things won’t happen. I believe it came from a local newspaper, and I came across it because of a FB group I belong too. Other wise I would not have come across it. But is that really the point here?
