Jesus died for our sins to take the punishment for our sins, correct? Was there any other reason (or reasons) why Jesus died for our sins?

That is correct. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins.

Sin deserve God's rightous punishment, in dealing with it we are restored to a relationship with God, given the right to be called Sons of God, access into his prescence in prayer and have the promise of a place in heaven.

Yeshua/Jesus laid His life down willingly for us and to redeem the whole world.

If I say more then I get a rasberry from those that do not know Hebrew history and the history of our world. So I do not wish to stir up any strife and generally keep quiet.

For more detail read Romans ch 5 and Hebrews ch 9.

Read the whole chapter at least three times and then make notes about what is gained through Jesus's death and resurrection.

Some other valid reasons:

1) As an example of how bad sin is

2) As a ransom from Satan's kingdom

3) To demonstrate God's love for us

4) To fulfill prophecies about who the Messiah is/would be

5) To empathize with the hurting and marginalized

6) Etc. the greatest event ever!

If I spent my life immersed in those two chapters, I would be a staunch universalist.

The way I look at it, it was Satan's intention to harass us throughout all eternity for each of our sins. Jesus had committed no sin, so when Satan had him killed, Jesus ransomed us from Satan.

The thread is about Jesus dying for our sins and in my opinion those are two very good chapters that explain what Jesus did.

I haven't suggested that anyone should ignore the rest of the bible, but to do an extensive study of those two chapters.

I'm just pointing out that that is a huge takeaway from those two chapters. And it is hammered on in both. It's not just a single out of context sentence.

I'm not a universalist. I'm just saying it gives me pause. There is so much we don't know and so much we misinterpret. And it's so unfortunate that so many of our leaders use, as their arguments against someone who teaches something contrary to what they teach, are along the lines of, "don't listen to that guy. He's teaching blasphemy!"

Someone here even had the audactiy to say, regarding 1 Enoch, that "...God tells us to not read that." Yet I can find no scripture that tells me that. The one that "might" be inferred to say it is "be innocent as doves". But there is a difference between innocence and ignorance". And the NT authors quote it, so why would I not want to read it to find out where they are coming from?

It's almost like, regarding God and scripture, the more you know, the more you know you don't know.
