Israel the center of the world and the fertile crescent

Ancient civilization and major world powers flourished around the Fertile Crescent, Egypt in the south, Assyria and Babylon in the west with Israel in the middle.

The bible is middle east centered. That's where all the drama will take place in the last days. Even the beast will come from the middle east. He is called the Assyrian in the bible

Animals and human/animal figures in the Bible are meant to convey systems.  These systems are governmental, religious and financial.   Unless specifically so stated the figures of animals are to be interpreted as systems, not persons.

For example, the Beast represents a persecutional governmental system.   It may also represent a popular trend, such as National Socialism in the 1930's & 1940's.  Germans who might have entertained opposition to governmental policy could not act upon their conscience due to fear.  Therefore they were subverted by a popular political trend albeit one that exercised persecution in the extreme.

Where prophecy specifically mentions a human it does so very clearly as for example in Ezekiel 38:3, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal.  In this instance, Gog represents the leader of a system which opposes the designs of the Most High.

Finally, it is correct interpretation to point to Israel as the center of all prophecy and Biblical references to future events.

The Bible is not concerned with the developing African trade system, Chinese dynasties or the influence of astronomy on South American culture during the same period of time.   Its all about Israel and/or Messiah.

The Bible nowhere asserts itself to be an encyclopedia.

It is the story of the fall and redemption of man - a story six thousand years in development and still incomplete.  The Bible is not a study of astronomy or dinosaurs.  If the reader wants a book on those subjects, I suggest a trip to the library would be efficacious.  The Bible does not address prehistoric plants, tectonic plate movement of the planet, age of the universe or popular recipes of the day.   It is not about cultures or nations other than those directly touching Israel either in the past present or future.  If one wants to read about such things, the Bible provides no resources.

On the other hand, where the events of ancient times touch on the story of redemption the Bible provides an unusual clarity in terms of history, human frailty and the direct work of the Hand of Almighty God.

Hope this helps.

I don't know if you are aware,  but it has been proven that an area very near Israel is the geographical center of the world.   This is done by adding up the distances from one point to every other place in the world.   The smallest sum of distances is there in the middle east.   Of Jerusalem it is said:

Eze 5:5 KJV Thus saith the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.

Be Blessed

That really does bless me to know this. Thanks, PuP! :P

The center of the world is approximately 4000 miles straight down from anywhere on its surface.

God was planting Israel at the center of the world, so that the whole world would see the blessings that come to a nation living under the Laws of God. To Israel was entrusted the covenant, the Law, the priesthood and the promises. What nation is there so great that has God so near to them…. and what nation is there so great that has statutes and judgments so righteous as are in all this law …. (Deuteronomy 4:7-8)

Israel geographical position is of no accident. It meant that traders had to cross Israel’s borders as they moved between Asia, Africa and Europe. Israel is at the center of the world, the bible is Jerusalem centered.

References to the center of the world may also be interpreted as INTERSECTION of the kingdoms of man.

Ancient Israel was at the INTERSECTION of trade, military conquest and religious influence throughout that part of the world.

It remains the INTERSECTION of world interest due to many factors today.

The reader may find it interesting to explore the current Chinese Belt and Road project.   Their intent is to create a modern Silk Road from the orient to Europe.

If you remember your history, the old Silk Road was interrupted when Caliph Mehmet II seized Constantinople (modern Istanbul) in 1453.  It ended both the crusades and the middle ages.   Trade between Europe and China was terminated by Muslims.  As a consequence European nations went in search of an easier path to the east - by sailing west.  A direct result of the Muslim conquest of Constantinople was the discovery of the New World by Columbus less than fifty years later.  Today the Chinese government seeks to rebuild the old trade route by means of the greatest building project since the Great Wall.

The Bible predicts this event in the End Times chronicles.

IF the existing land masses are still here in the new heavens/ earth,  the 1500 mile high new Jerusalem will be visible in all of Europe,  most of Asia and Africa,  as well as parts of Australia and (northern) North America,  at a distance of about 4000 miles.

Be Blessed

The PuP

The New Jerusalem will be our eternal home, to my understanding. After the old earth and heavens are sanitized with a fervent heat. It's natural we would like to know as much about our eternal home as possible. I try to imagine in my mind the description of it, but cannot.

Geographically, it would almost cover the entire landmass of the continent of the United States. I have not found anywhere in the Bible that says, it sits on the earth. Just that it comes down from God out of heaven.

Even if it were sitting on the earth, there would have to be a drastic change, one way or another. The earth's atmosphere and oxygen would have to expand 1,500 miles into outer space; or we do not require breathing oxygen any longer? I suspect the latter.

Then if the laws of physics were still appliable; that much weight shift centralized in one spot, would cause the earth chaos and instability. I'm suspecting it might be above Jerusalem, in geocentric orbit?

Have you ever thought about those questions?
