I encourage others to memorize verses you run across in your bible reading that have meaning for you. When you memorize scripture, God is able to bring it to mind and help you stay on the right path. For instance: some of my favorites: Proverbs 3:5 & 6, Quote Pro 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Psalm 37:4, Matthew 6:33, Philippians 4: 6 & 7. There are many, many more. I encourage you to read the bible through to get a good overall understanding of what God's purposes are. If you read about 20 chapters a day you can get through it in 4 months. If you read about 4 chapters a day, it will take about a year to get through it.....still worth it to take longer. What do you think? I've memorized and used both verses below many many times! James 1:2-4, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." My favorite and first verse I've ever memorized: Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
